I just watched Masters of the Universe.

I absolutely loved it.

Is it a flawed movie? Yes.

Is it a little too campy at times? Yes.

Is this a movie that fans of the 1983 series will love? Yes.

That’s who this movie was made for. Us. The fans of the 1983 series.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews from people that are too young to know. It’s not for them. They’re not going to pick up on what made this movie so special.

It hit all the beats it needed to. That was my childhood.

Please go see it.

People claiming that Masters of the Universe disrespects the original Filmation cartoon are simply tourists farming outrage engagement.

I watched the show when it was originally on in the 80s and I still occasionally put on an episode. It's comfort food, shows like Star Trek are similar. I'll watch an episode from time to time. I was watching Secret of the Sword just the other day.

The new movie is a live action version of that Filmation cartoon. It has the same tone and look, and I was actually shocked at how it got the lore as well (Queen Marlena being from Earth). Travis Knight understood the assignment.

Of all the nostalgia adaptations from an 80s toy cartoon (Transformers, GI Joe, etc) this is BY FAR the best and truest to the source material. It's the MOTU movie fans have always wanted to see.

Saw last night in CD in an almost sold out theater. I thought the movie 🍿 was fun and mostly well done. Awesome time!

The only “woke” part was showing how dumb modern earth office jobs had become and directly made fun of that. I’m not mad at “race swap” of Man at Arms as Idris Elba wasn’t ever talking race or woke stuff and was just a stellar performance. As someone who enjoyed the 80ies cartoon and cheesy prior movie. 🍿 This was way way better. I had some comics back then too. I think the creators did brilliant job of mixing action, jokes, and that music into campy yet engaging tale. I love to see a squeal, yes stay through the credits. Oh I could not even tell that Jared Leto was Skeletor, who seemed infamously evil as required.
Man I loved this movie much more than the latest Star Wars Mando movie.

Jared Leto as Skeletor is the reason to watch #MastersoftheUniverse he steals the show and created an iconic new villain. The movie is pure, unadulterated summer blockbuster fun: colorful and unapologetically campy, and fiercely loyal to its roots. The film perfectly captures the soul of the 80s Saturday morning cartoon, right down to the glorious, high-key homoerotic innuendos. It is, quite honestly, the exact kind of popcorn movie summer was made for.

Well that was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a very long time. 10 year old me was tickled and the humor was mature enough that grown me enjoyed it very much.

Not a perfect film.
Evil Lynn was miscast.
More Cringer please.
Idris Elba channeled Man-At-Arms far better than I expected.
There were some (because I’m honest) ✌🏾messaging✌🏾 things but I filtered them through the lens of the after show lessons we got as kids. Nothing I bumped into.
Jared Leto finally got to allow his more ridiculous tendencies out to breathe and it worked so well if you recall how silly Skeletor was
