I'm a middle eastern historian. My own family were made refugees. And this is my honest view of the Nakba (“catastrophe”) - the displacement of around 700,000 Palestinian Arabs during the 1947–49 war surrounding the creation of Israel.
A thread. 🧵
Did you know that @lyft can charge you $150 for 'clean-up' based on the say-so of a driver, and with a very cursory review?
I was sent the attached photos and told that I had made a 'mess'. They seem to show the inside of the car door. Lyft could not explain what this 'mess' was.
@melissaeweiss@nytimes This is a recurrent trend. In an attempt to hide the fact that antisemitism and antizionism are incredibly tightly linked, they end up justifying hatred of Jews via hatred of Israel.
@ReynaDorotea@DBashIdeas "I empathize with you but let me bring up something else for which you are not responsible and which was not the topic of this conversation."
@NicholasAHollis@QueenMab87 With due respect, I think that trying to prove that Jews aren't responsivlbe for violence against them is a misguided venture.
@NicholasAHollis@QueenMab87 Do we really need to build up evidence that antisemitism exists independent of Netanyahu's actions? Who is the audience for this effort?
