@zacharyweeks The “employment services” part of ADAP that will be “transformative” are concerning. Subsidies have historically not worked. Once the subsidy is over employment ends. “Simulated work environments” as a strategy for work readiness is frightening.

The plan is to transition all AISH recipients to their new "But you can work a little" program and only after everyone is transitioned can those unable to work re-apply for AISH.

Required paperwork may cost between $200-$400.

AISH is 1,901 per month, no extra money for this cost.

“No one tells millionaires to be grateful for tax breaks. No one asks oil companies to be thankful for subsidies. But people with disabilities? They’re told to smile while the social safety net is exchanged for a trampoline with a hole in it.”

People with disabilities are often told to "just be grateful." But this is just a distraction from a social support system that keeps them below the poverty line and choosing between rent and medication.

Canada must do better.
