BREAKING: We held our biggest and best rally yet, with our 10,000 strong crowding chanting LET THEM LIVE and yet tragically late last night, we lost in our efforts to pass a bill banning sex selective abortion in NSW.

We tried everything in this campaign and worked tirelessly to open the eyes of the 4 Nationals politicians whose votes we needed to pass this bill. It is very upsetting that 2 of the 4, Sarah Mitchell who is the top of the Nationals tickets next March and Scott Barrett voted against protecting baby girls in the womb from gender-based annihilation.

I've learned through this fight that some politicians have hearts of stone and will not be turned by reason, evidence or grassroots community mobilisation.

This means we must vote out every pro-abortion politician and party next March in the NSW election. My team and I will move into our next phase of our NSW efforts and working towards obliterating the Nats in NSW and replacing them with @onenationoz (who has a policy against late term abortion and sex selective abortion) in EVERY SINGLE LOWER HOUSE SEAT.

I'm grateful to Rayne from our team and leads @nsw.life who will take carriage of this political fight and who coordinated our extraordinarily successful Nats Must Act regional speaking tour.

Seventeen years ago today, the world lost the extraordinary actor, dancer and singer-songwriter Patrick Swayze to pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

His legacy lives on through the love and advocacy of his wife, PanCAN Ambassador Lisa Niemi Swayze, who shares:

"When Patrick was diagnosed, the statistics were grim. Median survival: three to six months. Five-year survival: nine percent. Startling information, huh? It was beyond depressing. But every ounce of energy we had was gonna go into helping him live.

When he first found out he had pancreatic cancer, he turned to me and said, ‘I’m a dead man.’ But soon after, on a walk at our New Mexico ranch, he held my hand and said, ‘I want to live.’ That’s who Patrick was.

I made a decision that I was going to be who he needed me to be. I could cry, I could fall apart, I could panic — later. But not now. Cancer doesn’t happen to just one person. It sets out to kill those who love that person a little bit, too.

Patrick really was a hero. You give him a sword, a cape and a horse, and he’s a happy man — and when it came to fighting his illness, you really saw his courage.

While pancreatic cancer may have taken him in the end, it never beat him. Just because he’s gone doesn’t mean this fight is over. I will continue it for him."
