BWA's refurbishment of 3 flats in Connaught Mansions, a Victorian mansion block in Battersea, was completed this year for developer Dorrington. The spaces have been carefully overhauled, providing all “mod cons” while retaining most original features. Photo Credit: Richard Oxford
Work is continuing apace at 65 Harley Street, a Grade II listed building which forms part of the expansive Howard de Walden Estate. The refurbishment and extension of the building, originally designed by Claude Ferrier in the early 1900s, is due to be completed in 2024.

Whether big or small, wide or tall, BWA always pays special attention to the doors of its buildings. Today’s feature showcases some of our recent doors.
BWA ensures that every detail is thought through, resulting in buildings that are wholly bespoke. This means our projects look just as good close-up, as shown in these selected details.
Highlighted here is a selection of stairs across some of our projects. Utilising natural materials, colour and light, vertical circulation becomes a feature in and of itself.
With a focus on creating mixed-use, multi-generational, sustainable communities, BWA has produced various masterplanning schemes over the years. Most recently, the practice has worked with an established housebuilder looking at sites in the south of England.

BWA has worked on a multitude of Grade I, II and II* Listed buildings and in Conservation Areas over the years. Sensitive to preserving and enhancing the historic built environment, we bring a new lease on Iife to these significant buildings.
Well considered storage is a key element of all BWA schemes, critical in creating decluttered, harmonious spaces tailored to the needs of each client. Here is a selection of joinery units in a few of our projects.
BWA has both written and been featured in various publications, the latest being ‘Living With White’ by the White Company. BWA’s catalogue covers a range of themes, from a manual for householders looking to employ an architect, to the definitive guide on joinery.
Over the 35 years BWA has received students from schools and universities both in the UK and abroad. We involve trainees in all aspects of office life, and in 2022 Harshit Jain joined us for his Part 1 placement in industry, pictured here model-making.
Featured Project - Built in the 1950s in the Italian Alps, this single storey holiday home nestles into a clearing at the edge of a wood. BWA gained permission for the addition of two bedrooms and two shower rooms, and refurbished the interiors to suit the needs of the owners.
