Mr Michael Sheahan, Chef, Veterinarian with Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine DAFM left us all scratching our heads and a little mystified today during his questioning by the Public Account’s Committee.

According to Mr Sheahan if you were to ask him even three weeks ago what standards were like within the slaughter plant in Straffan , he would have said they were very good.

Really !!!! So no notices issued to Shannonside, no issues with waste, meat contamination, no complaints from the public , no concerns at all really?? EVER !

Mr Sheahan also went on to say the horrific footage featured in Rte’s Prime Time piece, happened on the farm beside the plant !
Ah well that’s ok then.
He also seemed more concerned with “ Band Wagons” than the welfare of the poor horses at Shannonside, and the people who are very concerned for their welfare.

It would appear to us that the Chef Veterinarian is somewhat confused about what he saw, what he knows and what he truly understands in terms of the gravity of the abuse at Shannonside , perpetrated by its owner John Joe Fitzpatrick, his son and employees.
It’s just not good enough!

Why are we not all as outraged about the Children’s Hospital as we were about Ryan Tubridy’s wages? It’s gone from €650m to €1.73billion and no sign of completion. Why is there no interrogation by politicians on the Tv everyday or did I miss it? Genuine question.
