Asked by Speers whether his AUKUS inquiry is really necessary, Peter Garrett is unequivocal:
"It was never a debate in Parliament. That is a massive abrogation of the democratic process when the Parliament has never stood up & examined the matter in any detail."

I bought my house and the one next door 23 years ago for around $3 million.
If property had only risen with inflation, they'd be worth a bit over $5 million today.
They are worth more than double that.
That difference is a gift from the government to me, a multi-millionaire, paid for by every young Australian trying to buy their first home.
@ShaneOliverAMP We can only hope so. As ever the burden must fall on women. Very hard working full time and caring for a family which seems to fall disproportionally on women.
@australian@cjoye 30% property correction. Good work Victoria. A chance for young people to have an affordable mortgage. Pity Sydneysiders. Do better @ChrisMinnsMP !
THE FACTS: Too many Australians and especially young Australians are being priced out of the market by property investors backed by big tax breaks.
That's why we’re reforming the tax system to help more young people buy a home of their own.
