@teachthemx3 Last week someone looking for a “tutor” messaged me. Her “home bound” child needed to finish a packet to pass 8th grade by the end of the day. She just wanted to pay me to do the packet for him. Nor work with him, or teach him, not even meet him. Just send me the packet and do it
@Her_Nonymous_D I’ve gotten on a flight to find someone sitting in my seat who pretended not to understand the flight attendant. He wasted about 10 minutes with his nonsense, holding up the entire flight and over 100 people waiting to board.
@0Beanie05923291 Or that the teacher that teaches frivolous things, with no work and kids just hanging out and playing, get the teacher of the year award and bonus.
@MagistraResIpsa@JamesAFurey I homeschooled my kids for 8 years before becoming a public school teacher. Anyone can teach their own kid. Teachers have to know how to teach EVERY kid, manage 20-40 at the same time, keep extensive records, manage accommodations, deal with personality conflicts etc.
@ImJimR87 I spent 8 years homeschooling and 9 years teaching public school. What do you want to know? Personally, I wish I had homeschooled my kids all the way through. My teacher training was after I homeschooled and it was all about how to handle a room full of kids and do paperwork.
@BowtiedQueenBee I retired this year from being a math teacher and I agree! I taught high school so I didn’t have to be so picky. As long as it was mathematically correct, I let them do it.
@Notwokenow Because we have a severe teaching shortage. So rather than increase pay and benefits or do anything about horrendous student behavior they just keep lowering the bar for what is required to become a teacher. I quit in June after teaching only nine years.
@gregarizona @gunsnrosesgirl3 Same here! Total flood of childhood memories. So many family beach parties and teenage bonfires. I miss the old California 😢 My family was there before the gold rush as loggers and silver miners. 4th generation California born.
