The Barnes United Methodist Church invites you to join us for Ash Wednesday today, February 18, 2026. We will perform the imposition of ashes in the shape of a cross on the forehead from 10am to 12pm and from 5pm to 7 p.m.
On Ash Wednesday, Christians receive a cross of blessed ashes on their foreheads to mark the start of Lent, a 40-day season of fasting, prayer, and repentance.
The ashes serve as a tangible reminder of human mortality ("Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return") and a call to repentance and conversion. All are welcome!

Begin your day by pausing in God's presence, quieting the noise to listen to His peaceful voice, and finding your worth in Him rather than in your to-do list. Dedicate your day to Him, trusting that He will guide your actions, meet your needs, and transform challenges into opportunities.
Reflection: Resting in His Presence
Scripture: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
Devotion: The world often urges us to strive, perform, and hurry. Today, choose silence, stillness, and hope. God invites you to find security in His love, not in your productivity.
Prayer: "Lord, help me pause and rest in Your presence today. Calm the noise around me so I can hear Your voice. I choose to trust You with my to-do list. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
Morning Prayer for Focus
"Lord, use me today in any way You see fit. As You guide my thoughts and actions, help me to bless others and serve Your purposes. Instead of pursuing my own will, I align myself with Yours. Thank You for Your mercy and the strength to resist temptation. Amen."

Are you facing mental health challenges, stress, depression, burnout, or feeling overwhelmed? Join us at Barnes United Methodist Church this Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 9 AM and 10:30 AM for our focus on "Staying Mentally Healthy In Christ," exploring how God meets us in our darkest times. Jesus said, “Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Rev Dr. Charles R Harrison, Senior Pastor
Morning Devotional:
Start your day by inviting God’s guidance and grounding yourself in gratitude. Reflect on Psalm 27:13-14, remembering that God's goodness is present even in difficult times, enabling you to walk with strength, humility, and peace. Choose to replace negativity with gratitude to avoid losing joy and to focus on God's promises.
Morning Prayer:
"Almighty God, I listen for Your voice this new day. Let my words be few and seasoned with Your grace. Guide me this day and show me the way I should go".
Key Thought:
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" (Psalm 23:6).
