@jones_giorgio@WestLawson1@mitchellvii No, seriously: says who and when? The administration has given over 10 different reasons for the war and inexpensive fuel/energy isn't one of them.
Is there an actual basis for saying that the real reason is inexpensive fuel/energy?
@EricLDaugh Remember when The Democrats said things like "Joe Biden is really clear and lucid most of the time, but for some reason he only does it when the cameras aren't rolling"?
@adambspencer@dontattempt How did you go with "Early pointers removed as sportโs alternative?ย (8,4)", @adambspencer?
We got it from the definition and cross letters but there are 4 of us and we can't figure out the puzzle properly.
@supercalifrag33@Dogsarethebes16@bobjcarr@SenatorWong Cool. I am glad that the President whose supporters love him because he keeps other world leaders off guard with his unpredictable foreign policy is, in fact, entirely predictable after all.
@supercalifrag33@Dogsarethebes16@bobjcarr@SenatorWong Given that less than 1% of Fentanyl imports come from Canada, I think it's safe to say that it's a figleaf excuse to justify after the fact. There's no reason that similar excuses won't be made at whim.
@Dogsarethebes16@bobjcarr@SenatorWong To be fair, the best way to stop Trump applying tariffs is probably not to reciprocate but to goad him into applying higher ones to begin with.
"Oh, tariffs are good for your economy and will raise trillions of dollars, Mr Trump? Why don't you put 200% on us all, then?"
@supercalifrag33@Dogsarethebes16@bobjcarr@SenatorWong One of his many conflicting stated policies is reciprocal tariffs. What he's actually doing is unrelated to that particular stated policy. Canada couldn't have retaliated by matching the tariffs if they were limited to reciprocal to begin with.
@RichardGrenell@Lin_Manuel Don't the arguments "they canโt be in the same room with Republicans" and "donโt want Republicans going to their shows" only carry weight if the The Kennedy Centre is now only for Republicans?
If so, I can understand why they'd be protesting.
@krassenstein@elonmusk@realDonaldTrump@DOGE It won't get close to $1 trillion if the promises not to touch social security or Defense are honoured. I imagine it will promote a lot of small cuts of a few million dollars each. Meanwhile, as with 2016-2020, there will likely be a significant increase in the deficit.
@mumbletwits With the caveat that we can't know without more detail than just a graph, but I note that we've slipped back to the ballpark of (though slightly below) pre-COVID levels, suggesting that the 2020-2023 spike *could* be COVID-stimulus related.
