@Corballyred That's pretty harsh on Slot.
After the shambles of this season and clear issues behind the scenes, I don't think he should be the manager next season. But staying out on the side of the pitch and not taking any spotlight away from Mo and Robbo's moment was the right approach.
Absolute dogshit. Sack Arne Slot before he gets into the dressing room for half time.
Never seen a Liverpool side with such a lack of fight, or look more like they haven't got a clue what they're supposed to be doing. #MUNLIV
@GordonDudman@DavidHorne@LNER My problem isn't with the issue so much on Thursday night, but with nearly non-existent comms followed by a train breaking today in the same area and the same woeful comms to passengers.
You are having an absolute award-winning few days, lads.
I'd never even heard of Retford until 2 days ago, but here we are with that area heavily disrupting our travel 2 days in a row.
Standing ovation. @LNER
Profound apologies to everyone whose travel has been disrupted on Thursday evening by the trespass incident at Retford, a train failure at Stevenage and other incidents. Despite the best efforts of @LNER and @NetworkRailEC colleagues, we were unable to get many of you to your destination on Thursday evening and I am very sorry for this extreme inconvenience.
LNER services on Friday 17 April will be subject to alteration as the extended closure of the route on Thursday means that trains and crews are out of position. We will restore services back to normal as soon as we can - please follow LNER on social media and WhatsApp for updates.
@GordonDudman@DavidHorne@LNER But on a two hour journey with multiple stops, someone, somewhere could be able to communicate with the later stops the information about capacity etc. so that passengers aren't getting on annoyed that there's people in their seats. It's utterly farcical.
@GordonDudman@DavidHorne@LNER And the suggestion is there's absolutely no way for them to let passengers boarding those services know in advance that the train will be shorter and seat reservations will be cancelled? The Train Manager seemed surprised by the smaller train.
@dcms1000@DavidHorne I don't blame him for the infrastructure, but the poor comms and their rolling stock problems are his (and LNER's) issue. Absolutely nothing to do with Network Rail that a too short train arrived and the Train Manager has made too few announcements about seat cancellations.
@GordonDudman@DavidHorne@LNER Sure, and I don't disagree. I think the appalling comms and complete inability to know what time a train departing on Friday afternoon would arrive at its destination is their fault. As for today's issues, that's not on the police. And quite why a shorter train has arrived... 🤷♂️
@DavidHorne Thanks for the reply, but it's ludicrous that LNER is unable to provide accurate times for when the trains will depart when the line has been cleared. Perhaps more irritating is the constant cancelling of seat reservations (in this case as the train supplied is too short ).
@LNER Hello! The 13.10 from Kings Cross to Leeds is currently showing as still running. Is it expected that the service will indeed run? Would rather try and plan an alternative route now if I need to! Thanks.
@LWa1ker87@AndrewRosindell The problem is there's so much legislation to scrutinise that I doubt you would get these people to commit the required time.
This all sounds perfectly reasonable if you completely ignore that most hereditary peers belong to a political party and so fully entrenched in tribal party politics.
This is a total misunderstanding of the constitutional role of Parliament. Our system was never intended to be dominated solely by party politicians. The Commons represents the people, while the Lords has historically reflected the wider institutions and power brokers of the nation - the Church, the judiciary, the aristocracy, and independent expertise.
Hereditary peers provide a living link to our history and bring an independence from the narrow tribalism of party politics. That continuity has long been a unique strength of our parliamentary system, not a weakness.
