Johnstone is injured, Pope can't play out from the back, Trafford isn't good enough and the next best choice is Butland who plays for one of the best clubs in a league equivalent to the Championship or League 1.

@talkSPORT I get the reasoning behind this theory, but people criticise Southgate for being too defensive, Mourinho is more defensive than Southgate. There is also a reason he has only won 1 "trophy" since 2017. His philosophy is outdated and doesn't work in modern football

@talkSPORT The stat is misleading. A foul is only a foul if a free kick is given for it. Most fouls on Bruno and Ayew are niggly little fouls or the odd shirt pull which are more common. But the amount of dangerous tackles made on Saka week in week are less but are more likely to injure him

@talkSPORT Ironic coming from someone ismates with Grealish who is the biggest whinger of them all, and goes down with the slighest touch, he gets nowhere near the level of bad fouls against him than Saka does. Also it takes 3 or 4 bad fouls by 1 player on Saka before a yellow card is given
