So proud that after two and half years working on this with incredible housing associations and MPs like @peter_aldous and @heidiallen75 the Government has seen sense and dropped their plans! We did it!!
BREAKING NEWS: Housing benefit will be kept in place for “all those living in supported housing” @MHCLG and @DWP announce - dropping plans to fund short-term accommodation through ring-fenced grants to councils #ukhousing#ukhousing
Every life matters.
One law. One standard. For everyone.
This is about justice, for Henry, for his family and for all our children. They deserve better.
Kemi Badenoch: “I don’t want to hear” white lives matter.
Keir Starmer: “There’s no such thing as two-tier policing”.
Never have politicians been so out of touch with the people they’re paid to represent.
Genuinely amazed that some people are praising Tony Blair’s intervention. Labour’s problems - and the problems facing the country - are a direct result of his failure to understand how his messianic New Labourism was simply not delivering for vast swathes of working Britain.
I've just read an extraordinary piece by Lee Cain, former Director of Communications to Boris Johnson, in Conservative Home today.
Unfortunately, thinking in politics these days is based on the opinion polls of the day. We often forget that the only poll that matters is the one three years from now.
When Boris left office, he left a Conservative Party that nearly 70 per cent of the public thought was untrustworthy and a similar proportion felt was incompetent.
This is the mindset that Kemi now has to change. Condemning and attacking her strategy halfway through does nothing to help that.
I see this trotted out a lot, as if the Tories didn’t suffer a catastrophic defeat two years ago. Not a standard loss, a calamity from which many predicted they’d *never* recover.
No, she hasn’t dragged a broken party back to the top of the pile in two years. I’m curious to know how she - or anyone - was meant to.
Total bollocks. Here's what Tax Avoiding Tice won't tell you:
- Reform lead Bradford Council.
- There is absolutely no coalition between the Conservatives & the Greens. We would NEVER allow that.
- Committee Chairs from different parties have been voted in. If the MP for Dubai knew the first thing about UK local government he would know this is normal and happens in many places... Reform has done the same.
- It is THE LAW that there has be political balance on certain Committees.
- Reform still won't come clean on why Farage got £5 million from a Thai crypto billionaire, what he spent the £5 million on, and why he hasn’t been honest about it...
British politics will reach a new reductio ad absurdum in the Makerfield by election:
Vote Labour to destroy the sitting Labour Prime Minister.
Support Labour PM Starmer but NOT voting Labour.
We are having a by-election not because there’s any demand or need in the national interest but entirely to suit the convenience of the byzantine politics of the ruling party and the political pygmies in whose interest it is run.
We are no longer a serious nation. No wonder the bond markets are squiffy.
Whoa… WHAT?!!
Farage told us it was all for security - where did he suddenly get £1.4m in cash to buy a property if it wasn’t from Harborne’s £5m ‘gift’ ?
This stinks more every day.
As Labour self-implode, Kemi Badenoch gets ever more confident and impressive. Suspect the polls will start to reflect this as Reform come under more intense scrutiny.

Interesting choice of words. MPs are telling me that in the event of a longer leadership contest some of the leading candidates are considering making an early statement that Rachel Reeves would actually be retained as Chancellor, to secure market stability.
Labour MPs looking utterly miserable listening to Kemi Badenoch in the Commons. Emily Thornberry brave enough to step in and try to knock her off course but you could see as Thornberry sat back down the pure fury and frustration of someone forced to listen to uncomfortable truths
