HEADS UP: we’re watching SW coast / Bristol Channel closely as #StormEunice will potentially drive a surge with high tides at the end of the week. Stay close for updates
23June = Women In Engineering Day.
In the @EnvAgency we have so many female engineers, from Civils to Chemicals #TeamEA is a brilliant place to #ShapeTheWorld.
Today we had an #INWED20 video call with panelist’s, Erin Mageean’s mum is one of our engineers so she drew this 👇
@CBlighty@EnvAgencySE#moleseylock can be locked using hand wind. We are keeping the locks on hand wind so that the number of shutdowns are reduced when there are problems with public power. We will be restoring power and assisted passage as soon as the restrictions permit. Many Thanks
@simonrogs25 Simon, Many Thanks for the contact. If possible, please could you pass it to Steve Newman, the Lock Keeper at Shepperton who will hold onto it for me. Thanks, Barry
It’s lovely weather out there, but the #RiverThames is flowing fast and is very cold. Cold water shock take takes effect very quickly making movement and breathing difficult - it’s one of the main reasons why people drown. Please stay out of the water - thank you.
If you walk by the #RiverThames for your daily exercise, DO NOT be tempted to go in.
The river is very cold with strong currents under the surface.
Keep out of the water, and let the emergency services concentrate on #coronavirus#StayHomeSaveLives
Walking, running or cycling by the river is usually a great way to get fresh air and exercise, but footpaths often aren’t very wide and keeping 2m away from others, as we all must do, can be tricky. Please avoid those narrow sections if you can - thank you.
Riverside footpaths are very narrow in places and often run across lock gates and weirs - keeping two metres apart is difficult to maintain.
Please follow government advice on using green spaces and protecting yourself and others: https://t.co/iHSAg14cPM #StayHomeSaveLives
CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) Important information for boaters from Alice Mayne, Environment Agency Deputy Director for Navigation and Commercial Development: https://t.co/MuiPPmKLIj
A narrow boat that was on the weir structure at #Sunburylock has now sunk and is blocking the navigation. A HM notice is being sent out and plans for removal being drawn up.
We hope Strom Ciara left you all unscathed! We didn't fare too badly - worst affected being #TempleLock near #Marlow in #Buckinghamshire. More info on our FB page: https://t.co/jK1bvtycwb
