Thank you to the 20 Senators โ half Rs and half Ds โ for coming to an agreement on legislation to make our country safer. And importantly, for showing everyone that we can work across party lines to get important work done.
Proud to have cast my ballot for @MikeJohnstonCO today to be the next mayor of Denver! When I needed someone to speak into my life with compassion and empathy Mike & Courtney were there for me. I know Mike will lead this city with same compassion & empathy he showed me.
When people think of Denver, they think of the outdoors. Yet, Denver is one of the worst cities in the country for air quality. We can't afford to keep the status quo on climate, which is why I will take aggressive action to electrify our buildings & meet Denver's climate goals.
I felt compelled to respond because even as I share your view that NYC public schools have a spending reality to address, there is also the reality that families with means are spending without reservation 7/7
I 100% agree that nyc public schools face a fiscal reckoning.
Declining enrollment and the end of federal stimulus means we need to make cuts.
And, there are structural issues that prevent us from delivering a great educational experience for children in this city. 1/7
This year, the NYC Dept of Ed will spend more than $37k per K-12 student with average classroom size of 24. That's $888k per classroom. Just staggering numbers.
