BREAKING: A big win for my constituents in Lark Hill & Clifton - delighted that our campaign alongside @Barton_SAVE has paid off - the sand & gravel quarry planning application withdrawn - an important victory but our fight goes on. Thanks @journoanna_ & @Notts_TV for covering.
Nonetheless, it is not the end of the campaign as the applicant says it is preparing new plans which could be submitted in the next 12-15 months...
@Barton_SAVE: 'Whilst we know this isn’t the end of the campaign, it is perhaps the end of the beginning'
NEW: Plans for a controversial quarry spanning dozens of fields in Notts have been withdrawn.
A couple at Lark Hill Retirement Village just called me in floods of tears saying they're 'over the moon' and feel our @Notts_TV coverage was the final straw for the applicant

NCC are still accepting objection letters. Please join the campaign to protect important wildlife habitat and prevent the major adverse impacts effects the proposed quarry will have on @AttenboroughNR by objecting as soon as possible! @Nottswildlife
Please let @TIME magazine know what you think of them promoting a nation that has just slaughtered 1400 dolphins in one day in the name of tradition.... I think they should remove Faroe Islands from their list. Publicly. Or we could all stop buying the magazine?
This is Slochy: a place of rest and refuge; one of the few greenspaces left here on the Moray Coast; a much-needed habitat and safe-haven for local wildlife.
Help us prevent this needless destruction. RTs to spread the word appreciated.
