It shouldn't be "special"
It shouldn't be "pity"
It shouldn't be "inspirational"
It should just "be"
Disability rights are human rights. They should be the standard to hold everyone accountable to, not seen as favours.

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly.
Yes, this is peer-reviewed. Yes, it’s a comic.
Read the latest article from #PublicHumanities, Drawing Inclusions: a comic about comics, disability studies, and inclusion, written and illustrated by Rachel Adams.

Susan Griffin, 82, esteemed Berkeley CA author and feminist thinker, has died by assisted suicide. Griffin suffered from ME and Parkinson's. Her 1999 book about ME, "What Her Body Thought: A Journey into the Shadows," was a deeply affecting essay on ME.

It’s wild how people can effortlessly understand the righteousness of everybody from Robin Hood to Andor and then in real life simp for the Sheriff of Nottingham and the Death Star
Every Friday in October I'm discussing a horror film with a disabled character in it. And this week I'm unpaywalling the post I wrote about Mark and how he's a pretty damn good example of representation in Friday the 13th Part 2.

This is at once depressing (personally) to contemplate, but really exciting, as it reminds everyone why we should learn much more about infections and infection-associated chronic illness, in order to collectively age better. There is so much work to be done here:
This fall we're hosting a number of events including author talks, discussions on the future of the field, and mentoring workshops. Our first event, on grad school applications, will be hosted by @Nicole_Lee_Sch 1/4

It was inspiring to attend a #MasksRequired Disability Justice panel at Netroots Nation this weekend. @SFdirewolf moderated a discussion with @MattMcGorry, @the_tattooedjew, and Dr. Sami Schalk.
A key theme that resonated was the challenge of promoting COVID awareness and disability justice among progressive and academic organizations hostile or dismissive toward these topics.
Since masks were required and young activists were encouraged, I got to bring my 7 year old for his first conference talk.
I can’t help but think about how many people I cared about would still be alive if we had universal healthcare and that people didn’t see the deaths of the disabled and chronically ill as a foregone conclusion.
For decades, #CerebralPalsy resources have focused on the needs of children, but with a new toolkit, that could be changing. #disabilities https://t.co/P2d2zf2pgq

For months, folks on this website have pushed a set of "gotcha" tropes to debunk the existence of famine in Gaza.
In fact they are mostly debunking their own credibility on famine dynamics.
As we await tomorrow's IPC report, here is a pre-buttal 🧵of some of those tropes.
