We tried to rent a 50-ton crane to lift the statue. The company refused. They said it was too risky because the statue was too heavy for the crane. So we lifted it with our 16-ton crane.
@FunnyWWIIPoster Pray for your mother. Stay true to your beliefs if they are ones that don’t go against God and your reasoning, but the fact that you are thinking about marriage and children at all is a wonderful sign-don’t despair and forgive your mother. Prayers for you SGFPOTC 🙏
I've started calling all leftist ideas, "Anti-Civilizational Ideas" because that is far more descriptive than any political binary. Any idea that introduces chaos, undermines justice, meritocracy, order and fairness, turns out to be leftist.
@Wild_Horse Good to see how many people have sent you recs! Highly recommended the Catholic Study Bible, DM me and I’ll gladly send you one. Has scholarly notes underneath each page which comes in handy for understanding some of the more obscure references. This is mine on TDY
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
@Wild_Horse Previous poaster mentioned looking up St. Kateri Tekakwitha. She gave her life for the true faith. Looking up the Roman centurion as well.
There’s a place under Christ’s kingdom for a brave young girl and mighty warrior alike. 🙏☦️ God bless you on your search for the Logos
I watched Liv’s fighter jet video last week for the first time since she passed. I smiled, and then I cried.
She was so excited. Jared was worried about her and wanted to take it easy. She told him she wanted all the flips, the turns, the Gs.
He smiled and said, how about a parabola, and we take Asteroid back to zero G.
Her eyes lit up.
She wanted to go to space. He made sure she got as close as she could. @rookisaacman
Every girl says she wants an ambitious man, but the moment you start talking about launching a private military contractor to take out cartels in the Triple Frontier region of South America, suddenly it's too much
Pope Leo entered the heart, the origin of secularism and liberalism, called it out, went to the place the Jacobins thought they had stamped out the Church for good, and worshipped God along with hundreds of thousands. This might be the most based thing he's done yet.
@henryjkwallis@JacLtd2022@CatholicSat Typical communist. Vague allegations of complicity, goes on to justify murder of tens of thousands in France. Despite the harsh rule of the Czar, his police killed < 3,000 actual/alleged anarchists in a century. Bolsheviks killed over 10,000 civilians in a single month.
Two of the biggest, most cinematic displays of Catholic vigor just took place in the last 24 hours, in the U.S. and in France, and people need to pay attention to this. A religious reawakening, and behind it, the green shoots of a cultural movement.
a thing that occurred to me about this whole "anyone who has become a citizen is just as American as anyone else" thing along with this kind of performative hatred of one side in 150 year old, long settled American internal conflicts is that it's kind of analogous to a family.
if you marry into a family, are you just as much a member of that family as someone born to it? in one, legal sense, yes, sure. but in another very obvious sense, of course not.
if you married into a family that a few generations back had had a big conflict. say one of the great uncles had a horrible drinking problem and ended up abandoning his wife and child and it was a whole thing. and then after some years, he came back, sobered up, and the family for whatever reason decided it was best to accept him back into the family. prodigal son type stuff.
and now, you, 100 years later, recently married into the family, learn of this family lore and make a huge point about saying how you will never accept long dead great uncle Abe as a legitimate member of this family bc you simply can't stand and won't forgive men who abandon their families. it's unforgiveable.
and if you went further and declared no *real* Gunderson (lets pretend the family name is Gunderson) would ever accept great uncle Abe as a Gunderson, then I think everyone can see you are being an absolute knob.
and the fact that you have a valid marriage certificate to point to that makes you legally every bit a Gunderson in no way makes you just as much of a Gunderson as those descended from the folk who had to deal with and forgive great uncle Abe's transgressions and your vehement rejection of their forgiveness doesn't make you *more* of a Gunderson, as you seem to think or hope, but actually highlights how much you are not and perhaps never will be Gunderson.
