This mass scale tolerance for certain behaviors that we’ve developed as a nation is the cause of this. No well functioning country would ever defend the actions of someone like Carmelo Anthony. No well functioning country would import millions of people to create a cultural imbalance like we did. We’ve created a society that makes excuses instead of putting people like Carmelo Anthony in prison for life.

If the argument for aborting a Down syndrome child is to spare them from "suffering," but kids with Down syndrome are consistently among the most joyful people alive, then the suffering you're actually avoiding is your own. At what point do people move from babies with down syndrome to babies who may be “dumb”? Or what about short, maybe more prone to being over weight, or what about having adhd…. There’s no stopping what children are “disposable”.

Millions of Americans may not “go to university” and many people in the inner cities will not “engage, or contribute to society.” are they not worthy of life? There are many many people with down syndrome who go on to lead meaningful lives, and even if they didn’t, that doesn’t justify murdering them.
