Last Friday, we supported a multi-agency strategy meeting that brought together leaders from the Police, Judiciary, Clinicians, Forensic Department, and the prosecutor’s office in Vihiga. The goal was to strengthen collaboration and build a shared understanding of an access-to-justice system that truly prioritizes survivors.

On Thursday, members of the Gender Sector Working Group in Mbita met to reflect on emerging trends, challenges, and practical solutions to bridge existing gaps in gender response and coordination. Participants engaged in an overview of #TFGBV — deepening their understanding of its manifestations — and began planning for active participation in this year’s #16DaysofActivism against Gender-Based Violence.

A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on establishing a Gender Space/Shelter for Mbita, a conversation long overdue. Special appreciation to @Milliegeza for prioritizing the rehabilitation and renovation of the station into a safe space for survivors.

We firmly believe that every sub-county deserves a place of rest, healing, and protection — and Mbita North is next in line to make this vision a reality. The GSWG is eager to collaborate and partner to make this happen.
