We study double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)--its biological functions and the proteins that bind it to mediate these functions. Views are our own!

@silvirouskin Based on the one talk I have heard you give, I don’t think you will have any problem keeping the audience engaged! Go Silvi!

Very excited for our new paper, now out in @CellCellPress! /🧵The protein Tau forms intracellular toxic tangles in neurons in Alzheimer’s disease and Tauopathies. Tau pathology slowly spreads from cell-to-cell but the mechanisms of Tau transmission are not clear. /1

@UofUBiochem @UofUHealth Congratulations Esther!!

[University of Utah @UUtah]

Developed by @UofUBiochem scientists, a new kind of CRISPR that destroys cells rather than gene editing them has shown potential for killing sick cells while leaving healthy cells untouched.

The technology could treat viral infections and cancer.

@qichen_lab @UofUBiochem @UUtah Thank you Qi!

[Bass Lab @BassLabUtah]

@JasonSynaptic @sebatlab Amazed you got selected—did you tell them you couldn’t wait?

[Bass Lab @BassLabUtah]

@disney_lab Thanks for the kind words Matt. You are my hero too, and I still often think of your wonderful keynote at last year's RNA society meeting. Inspiring words for the current climate of science.

[Bass Lab @BassLabUtah]

So, so, honored by this award—it is daunting to know that my heroes have won this award! Thanks to my heroes and mentors, and my trainees, who are everything!!!!

[U of Utah Dept of Biochemistry @UofUBiochem]

A huge congratulations to Brenda Bass for her Lifetime Achievement Award from the RNA Society @rnasociety! She is being recognized for her "groundbreaking discovery of A-to-I editing and outstanding contributions to this field."

[Bass Lab @BassLabUtah]

@JasonSynaptic thanks Jason!

"This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board." —@_david_ho_

I’m overwhelmed with profound gratitude. I became the first female Japanese scientist to receive the Keio Medical Science Prize in its 30-year history 🙏🏼 #KeioMedicalSciencePrize #WomenInSTEM #Immunology

Also, huge congratulations to @brangwynnelab!

@JG_Underwood @silvirouskin @RNASociety Ok, very late to this conversation but Jason (my dear friend) I NEVER would have emphasized the word you… come on… just was trying to understand how anyone could get extra drink tickets 😎

[Bass Lab @BassLabUtah]

Well said @SenThomTillis ! Thank you!

[Senator Thom Tillis @SenThomTillis]

America must remain a global leader in science. That’s why I joined my Senate GOP colleagues in urging OMB to release NIH funds Congress has already appropriated for critical research in cancer, heart disease, and rare disorders.

Dr. Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz (@HHMIJanelia) will be giving Thursday's Biochemistry Seminar on "Imaging Protein Synthesis at Micron and Atomic Scales"! 12pm in HSEB Alumni Hall.

[Michael 英泉 Eisen @mbeisen]

I don’t know what kind of NIH Director @DrJBhattacharya will be, and like many scientists I have concerns about aspects of MAHA. But there is a lot to like in the agenda he set out, and I hope people at least give him a chance.

[Bass Lab @BassLabUtah]

@Joshilabyale Wow—amazing to hear. Let’s hear it for humanity. Grateful to study section leaders and members. Many efforts like this will save us.

[U of Utah Dept of Biochemistry @UofUBiochem]

On Thursday Feb 20th, Dr. Samuel Hobbs @DanaFarber will give a Biochemistry seminar entitled "Mechanisms of viral immune evasion conserved across the tree of life." HSEB 1730 at 12pm!
