We’ve been putting off confirming it, but I’m sure it’ll come as no surprise when we tell you that we won’t be able to stage our next event until May 2022. The easing of social restrictions will come too late for this year’s event, but we hope to see scenes like these next year.
An entertaining first Thurlow Nunn Youth League match for @DeepingRangers U18s. A 2-2 draw @WisbechStMaryFC, Deeping coming back from 0-2 in the last 20. A controversial injury-time equaliser, but the ball was definitely over the line 😉
*RACE CANCELLED*
We regret that we’ve had to take the difficult, but necessary, decision to cancel this year’s event on Sunday, 3 May, because of this week’s government advice relating to COVID-19.
Details of refunds for those who have already entered will follow in due course
A chastening experience for our U16s in what was a must-win game in terms of title hopes. Unfortunately those ended with a performance from a side that looked every bit like one that hadn’t played for five weeks. Disappointing to see the boys under-performing.
Great to hear about one of our U16s making his debut in men’s football for @Nethertonunited. Will’s been a big part of our success since we signed him from @werringtonafc four years ago. Both junior clubs can be very proud of the player he’s become.
First it was Ciara. Then it was Dennis. Who’s next? Eric? Emily? You?
Whatever your name, join those already signed up to our 10k and 3k on Sunday, 3 May. Enter via our website today https://t.co/YCh138oTKl
ENTRY UPDATE: There’s been a slight delay to opening the online entry system this year, but we hope to bring you further news in the coming days. Thanks for your patience.
We race again on SUNDAY 3 MAY - 3k (10:15) & 10k (11:15)
After a disappointing run of results, our U16s ended the year on a good note on Sunday. They’ll enter 2020 as league leaders, but having played more games than their rivals. They’re not the favourites to win it from here, but they’ll keep fighting until the end.
With 2 defeats in 3 games (both 4-3), our U16s are finding out the hard way that:
A) They’re a prized scalp
B) If you don’t take your chances when on top, you usually get punished
C) It’s much harder to control a game when behind than when you’re leading. #LearningInDefeat
It’s been a tricky re-introduction to life at their own age group for our U16s, but today they showed what they’re capable of with a 4-2 win v last season’s U15 champions. Some great attacking play in the first half set up the victory.
A lesson in taking the heat out of a local derby by our 16s today:
They got themselves 3-0 up after 10 minutes; wasteful thereafter but damage already done. Finished 5-2. Three points and school bragging rights secured 😄
