A #HumanRights -based approach that acknowledges past injustices and deliberately engages Indigenous communities in deciding, designing and collaborating in renewable energy projects is key to ensuring that transitions are just.
🔎This article highlights examples from 🇦🇺Australia, 🇨🇦Canada, 🇬🇹Guatemala and🇳🇿New Zealand of benefit-sharing models; community-owned initiatives; and partnerships between indigenous peoples, governments and the private sector that balance the needs of different stakeholders.
🎯It focuses on how development co-operation policy frameworks should integrate a human rights-based approach as an integral component of responsible business conduct, support inclusive mechanisms for financial and technical support to #IndigenousPeoples, and facilitate equitable arrangements to address the climate crisis and contribute to reducing poverty and inequalities.

Only 17% of the #GlobalGoals targets are on track.
In a world of unprecedented wealth, knowledge and technologies, the denial of basic needs for so many is outrageous & inexcusable.
We must not let up on our promise to end poverty & protect the planet.
There is a need to strengthen intergenerational dialogue and the dialogue between Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous Peoples so that future relationships will be positive for many generations to come.🌱🤝

Soil biodiversity drives the carbon, nitrogen and water cycles upon which life on earth depends.
#Sustainable land management practices and sustainably managing agricultural landscapes can preserve soil #biodiversity. @IUCN
Yes, summer’s have always been hot. But #fossilfuel pollution is making the heat stronger – and stay hot longer. It doesn’t have to be this way. It’s time to leave fossil fuels behind – and take back your summer.
