Stonemasons Josephine Crossland and @BatchelorLuke have completed our most recent replica distance stone, the Summerston stone. This will be located at Lambhill Stables along with a sculptural head.
In 1740, a Roman distance slab was found lying in a ditch in East Dunbartonshire 😮
They were used to mark the progress of the @AntonineWall (their frontier across Scotland) around 1,800 years ago and a replica has now been placed near the original spot: https://t.co/3CaNGnnJ42
Here it is... our modern take on a distance stone has been completed by skilled stonemasons Luke Batchelor and Jo Crossland. They have brought to life exactly what we had envisaged. For installation at Cow Wynd in Falkirk once it is safe to do so. @VFalkirk@HeritageFundSCO
