@bob_combedown And yet none of the usual suspects had anything whatsoever to say about the decimation of red-protected House Martins & at-risk bat species on and around the Rec.
Fantastic to see that at last a thoroughly deserving woman has been given a plaque in Bath, now in position waiting for its final finish & polish.
Huge respect to the shop owner who managed to find a way round the plaque gate-keeper community!
1 of 6 - Late on the evening of 30/4 I was advised by one of the church officers on the ground in Bath that a drone was being flown “dangerously close” to the nest box at St Johns. When I checked the system, the pole camera was completely dead. @Hawkandowluk@ASPBathNES
It's full-on growing season for weeds at the moment so plenty to do for our hard-working volunteers this morning in perfect gardening weather.
It's always a good time to visit, but late spring/early summer is always the most colourful.

@jacktreacle OK, so I agree irony doesn't work well on X...
But it's on them if some have been provoked into resistance by their doing precisely the opposite elsewhere whilst hiding behind a convenient invented tick-box excuse on the notice displayed.
Pure trolling: "We closed the gate that forced you to keep yr dog on a lead but now it's safe you must keep yr dog on a lead".
Other news: while NT can't afford/won't mend one Bathwick gate to stop noise that made them lock it open they funded 10 new closed gates at Bathampton.
Cattle will be returning to some fields on the Bath Skyline. Please remember to keep your dog on a lead if walking them through a field containing livestock.
These green spaces are for everyone to enjoy. Please be respectful of others.

@jacktreacle The point is theyve kept the gate to the main road locked open for months cos someone complained about the noise it makes pleading lack of funds to fix it even as they funded multiple closed gates in Bathampton. Sooo...safety for toddlers & dogs isn't a concern but for cattle is?
The wait is nearly over.... Here is our special summer walks programme for 2026. 9 topics, 58 walks, 1000 places. Bookings open 29 April

@landatthebottom Congratulations - you waited at least 3 long months to get a photo in which the path wasn't a watery & muddy quagmire & you finally succeeded.
In reality it'll benefit numerous people inc the many international visitors who don't happen to have their walking boots with them
31 MARCH 1776, BRAINTREE, MASSACHUSETTS: “I desire you would Remember the Ladies,” Abigail Adams writes to husband John. “Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the Husbands. Remember all Men would be tyrants if they could.” https://t.co/Wp03WzACrH
Just imagine: America might never have succeeded in securing independence without Washington putting his faith in Smallpox inoculation. How times have changed!
17 MARCH 1776, BOSTON: Washington at first forbids any troops to enter Boston, both to prevent looting and because he is convinced that “the enemy with a malicious assiduity, have spread the infection of the smallpox through all parts of the town.”
