Billy Boyd is not only a talented actor but also a musician. Best known as Pippin Took in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, he also wrote and performed “The Last Goodbye,” the closing song of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

Written by Boyd alongside Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh, the song plays over the end credits and became a fitting farewell to The Hobbit and the world of Middle-earth.

It’s pretty special that the man who played Pippin also got to perform the final song of the Middle-earth films.

My favorite song from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, after “The Misty Mountains Cold,” is the Dwarves’ “Blunt the Knives (That’s What Bilbo Baggins Hates!)”

The song actually comes from a part of The Hobbit book where the Dwarves sing “Chip the glasses and crack the plates!” So the film version is essentially an adaptation of Tolkien’s original song.

What I love most about this song is how well it captures the spirit of Middle-earth and wonderfully reflects the Dwarves’ cheerful, fun loving culture.

🚨 A flash flood hit the Bhotekoshi River area in Gosainkunda, Rasuwa, Nepal 🇳🇵 today, destroying markets, homes, and hydropower infrastructure in Timure and Syabrubesi.

At least 8 people have been confirmed dead, and heavy casualties are feared as dozens of people—including local police personnel and customs officials—remain missing.

The raging waters have damaged six major hydropower and transmission facilities, wiping out roughly 12% of Nepal's national power capacity.
