Bowling Green deserves leaders who lift people up instead of leaving people out. That’s been my life’s work. And that’s why I’m running for mayor. I moved here, fresh out of school, with my husband Michael 30 years ago. We decided to start our family here. My son Alex grew up in our city schools and I’ve taught generations of students as an educator at WKU. I’ve loved Bowling Green from the moment I set foot here. Right now, our city is growing fast. But if we don’t start listening to our community, the people who live here will be left behind. More and more people already feel like they have been. For over a decade, many of the politicians calling the shots in City Hall have ignored the people they’re supposed to represent: clamping down on your right to transparency. Enabling discrimination against people simply because of who they love. Listening to big real estate developers, but not neighborhood families. Today, your right to offer public comment at City Hall is more restricted than it was just a few years ago. Something is broken — and it’s time we fixed it. I’m running for this job with experience as a mom, an educator, an advocate, and a two-term state representative. When I represented Bowling Green in Frankfort, I worked with Gov. Beshear, Democrats, and Republicans on everything from lowering the cost of insulin and passing tornado recovery bills to delivering federal dollars for our veterans center and personally securing $3.5 million for our roads. In thousands of conversations over the years, you’ve shared with me your hopes for Bowling Green. I’ll be rolling out plans and ideas over the coming weeks and months — but I also want to hear from you. What do you want Bowling Green’s next four years to look like?
