لم تعد قوات سوريا الديمقراطية، قسد، موجودة فعلياً أو تمتلك أيًّا من مقومات الفاعل السياسي أو العسكري المؤثّر. فمع تراجع الغطاء الأمريكي، وتقلّص السيطرة الجغرافية، وفقدان الموارد الاقتصادية، وانسحاب المكوّنات العربية، وتآكل الهياكل الإدارية، سقطت عمليًا كل الذرائع التي حاولت قسد عبرها تقديم نفسها كقوة أمر واقع أو شريك دولي.

الأخطر من ذلك أن المشروع الذي تتبناه قيادات قسد لم يكن يومًا مشروعًا وطنيًا سوريًا، بل ارتبط منذ بداياته بأجندات خارجية، وتم توظيفه على حساب تطلعات السوريين عمومًا، وأهلنا الكرد خصوصًا، عبر محاولات الزجّ بهم في صراعات عبثية وعزلهم عن محيطهم الوطني الطبيعي.

إن التخبط السياسي الذي نشهده اليوم في خطاب شخصيات مثل فوزة يوسف وغيرها يعكس حالة الإفلاس التي وصلت إليها هذه المنظومة، ومحاولاتها المستمرة لإعادة إنتاج نفسها رغم فقدان الشرعية الشعبية والسياسية. فبدل مراجعة التجربة والاعتراف بالفشل، ما زالت هذه القيادات تصرّ على المكابرة، ولو كان الثمن مزيدًا من الانقسام والمعاناة.

أمام هذا الواقع، يصبح الخيار الوحيد القابل للحياة هو العودة إلى المشروع الوطني السوري الجامع، والقائم على وحدة الأرض والشعب، والاعتراف المتبادل بالحقوق ضمن إطار الدولة الواحدة. فالوحدة الوطنية ليست شعارًا عاطفيًا، بل ضرورة سياسية وأخلاقية لحماية مستقبل سوريا، وصون كرامة جميع أبنائها بعيدًا عن المشاريع الخارجية والانقسامات المصطنعة.

Senator @LindseyGrahamSC, the Syrian-American community has met with you many times, and we appreciate your longstanding support for lifting Assad-era sanctions. We value continued dialogue with you to help achieve peace and stability in Syria and the region.

As President Trump has stated, U.S. policy is to support a stable and safe Syria, ensure ISIS does not return, and keep Iranian militias out. True stability requires one sovereign authority – there cannot be armed pockets operating outside the Syrian Government’s control.

In March 2025, the Trump Administration facilitated an agreement between Damascus and the SDF to integrate SDF forces into Syria’s national army and institutions by the end of 2025. Damascus accepted. The U.S. brokered it. But the SDF has stalled implementation. Instead of focusing on real integration, SDF leadership diverted negotiations to minor issues while continuing destabilizing actions—particularly in Aleppo, where civilians have been targeted, and local communities remain under pressure. I witnessed this firsthand last fall.

At the same time, credible reports – including from the Washington Post – documented SDF cooperation with Assad-era remnant networks and recruitment of former regime elements into its ranks. These actions undermine the very transition the U.S. seeks.

Threatening new “Caesar sanctions on steroids” would punish the wrong side. The Syrian Government is trying to implement the U.S.-facilitated agreement. The obstacle is the SDF’s refusal to integrate. Rather than sanctions that would hurt ordinary Syrians and weaken U.S. influence, we respectfully urge the Senate to use its leverage to press the SDF to honor the March 2025 agreement.

Syria’s economy and security cannot be secured while parallel armed forces operate outside government authority. Integration—not threats—is the path to defeating ISIS, blocking Iran, and building a stable U.S.–Syria relationship.

We hope to continue meeting with you, Senator, to work together toward a peaceful, unified Syria that is a responsible partner to the United States and a source of stability for the Middle East.

نحن عائلة سورية–كردية، تمتد جذورنا من عفرين إلى شمال إدلب. منذ اللحظة الأولى لانطلاق الثورة السورية، كنا في الصفوف الأمامية: في الميدان، وفي السياسة، وفي الإغاثة، وفي القتال.

كنّا من أوائل من قاد مظاهرات مدرسة الصناعة في سلقين، وحمينا المتظاهرين من الشبيحة، وشاركنا في تحرير المدينة. كنّا جزءًا من عملية تحرير إدلب الأولى. فتحنا بيوتنا للنازحين، وشاركنا في معركة ردع العدوان وتحرير سوريا، وفي الحرب ضد الفلول. وقدمنا العديد من الشهداء في سبيل سوريا. واستمر دورنا في العمل الإغاثي والسياسي في الخارج.

واليوم، شاركنا في تحرير أهلنا في الأشرفية والشيخ مقصود من سلطة «قسد» التي فرضت نفسها بالقوة، وقمعت أهلنا، واستخدمت اسم الكرد غطاءً لمشاريع لا تمت لقضيتهم بصلة.

نقول هذا ردًا مباشرًا على ميليشيا «قسد» وأبواقها، التي تدّعي تمثيل الكرد زورًا، بينما تمارس القمع بحقهم، وتزجّ بأبنائهم في معارك لا تخدم إلا أجندات خارجية.

نحن سوريون–كرد، وقضيتنا الكردية لا تنفصل عن القضية السورية، ولن تُختزل بتنظيم مسلح اغتصب تمثيلها، وتاجر بمظلومية الكرد، وحاول فرض نفسه وصيًا عليهم بقوة السلاح. نعرف واجباتنا تجاه وطننا، ونؤديها قبل أن نطالب بحقوقنا، ولن نقبل أن تُستخدم هويتنا لتفتيت سوريا أو لشرعنة مشاريع تقسيمية.

Does the SDF truly represent the Kurds?

There are hundreds of testimonies and pieces of evidence documenting the true nature of the “People’s Protection Units” – the main component of the SDF – and how these forces entered Kurdish areas in northern Syria at the invitation of the ousted Assad regime, with the aim of suppressing the Syrian revolution in those regions. These militias committed acts of kidnapping, killing, and repression against Kurdish activists.

I will not go into details, as the testimonies are many, and the facts confirm that the Kurdish people themselves were among those who suffered the most at the hands of these groups.
It is true that the SDF includes a strong Kurdish component, but it is by no means the sole representative of the Kurds. It also includes Arabs, Assyrians, and others, and most of its Kurdish leadership is linked to Qandil rather than to the local community. Moreover, the prisons of the SDF are filled with members of other Kurdish parties and movements that disagree with it politically and ideologically.

I said this before to Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaybani in New York, and I repeat it today:
The agreement between Damascus and the SDF is purely military and security-based, and it should not be regarded as representing the Kurds or negotiating on their behalf.
We, the Kurds, are an integral part of this country. We do not seek privileges or special treatment; we demand our civil, political, and cultural rights, under a fair citizenship law that protects all Syrians without exception.

For our roots in this land are like those of the blessed Afrini olive tree—deep, steadfast, and unshakable, no matter how hard some may try to uproot them.

From Inside the U.S. Congress
Today, our team is present at the hearing session for the “H.R.4427 - Syria Sanctions Accountability Act of 2025,” which is scheduled for a vote later today.
Over the past few days, our team has reached out to several members of the Financial Services Committee — the body that introduced this amendment — from both the Republican and Democratic parties, urging them to reject the bill and prevent its passage.

In parallel, the @sa_council , in collaboration with other Syrian American organizations, launched a broad grassroots campaign calling on Syrian Americans and all supporters of Syria to contact their congressional representatives and urge them to vote against this amendment.

As a result of this campaign, more than 41,000 emails were sent, and over 2,100 direct contacts were made with congressional offices — making it one of the strongest grassroots campaigns ever organized by the Syrian American community.

If passed, this amendment would expand the sanctions imposed on Syria, hindering reconstruction efforts, stalling economic and security recovery, and delaying the return of refugees to their homeland.

🙏 Please keep us in your prayers. What we are doing today is a defense of the future of Syrians — both inside the homeland and across the diaspora.
