@dotkrueger Grow the hell up. He's about positioning, probabilities and risk management, with a long track record of outperformance.
This is investing, not a religion. People have different methodologies and priorities.
The problem here is that the world's financial system changed radically after 2009. Global M2 behaves completely differently and is driven by the debt cycle that's never going away.
1999 had a federal budget surplus FFS.
The implied prediction of this chart is pure click bait.
@willywoo@pulte You're misunderstanding what he said.
Assets are never used as collateral for a house, they are used by lenders to QUALIFY someone for a loan.
That's why this is a big deal.
The house itself is always the sole collateral in a first mortgage, not the borrowers other assets
@TheRealOne999@BobLoukas@ZohranKMamdani The landlords are the ones taking the financial risk by hiring the builders to build the housing. New apartments cost tens of millions of dollars to build, and there are many ways to lose money doing it. Without an expected return on capital, nothing gets built, period.
Lutnick going on TV
and unironically talking about 3 generations working in the same factory
is some of the most out of touch billionaire, yet also extremely communist, shit i’ve ever seen in my life
GDP growth just dropped from 2.4% in Q4 to -0.3% in Q1.
Inflation higher this month, Core PCE up 2 bps to 3.5%.
Jobs down as well.
Entirely predictable with even a high school economics class.
Q2 is going to be a bloodbath.
Lutnick: "It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life and your kids work here and your grandkids work here. We let the auto plants go overseas."
@realEstateTrent Sadly, multiply this by several hundred thousand business. No inventory means fired employees means less purchasing etc. Its how you create a massive recession.
And basic (high school) economics should never be political.
@BillAckman@realDonaldTrump Gosh Bill, if only Trump had specifically stated he was going to this exact thing for a year on the campaign trail.
He also tried to do it last time but had a cabinet that talked him down to some extent.
