North Pole Ambassador to The USA
(He,Him,His)
Subject of content varies wildly.
Tweets do not reflect the views of the North Pole unless otherwise stated.
Many video games set in post-apocalyptic settings feature ideological "factions". But none seem to ask whether we'd see a revival of tight clan based lineage like we see across parts of the developing world?
I read this tweet in the middle of class and just started laughing.
I still cannot get the image of Abe Lincoln managing the economy "like Stalin on Adderall"
Abe: "General Grant, I'm sorry I don't have time to speak to you. I needed to expand our coal mimes, to lower the price of steel and increase the profitability of our tooling workshops.... wait, what's this.. ok, now I also need to import sugar"
You complain about "polarization" because you actually think extremists are on both sides
I complain about "polarization" as a dog whistle to complain about GOP extremism.
We are not the same.
No, no, no. The problem is not โthe extremes of political partiesโ (plural!), itโs not โboth sides,โ itโs not #polarization.
The key problem is the rise of far-right extremism and the accelerating anti-democratic radicalization of the Republican Party. 1/
I don't see anything to be gained by pushing people out of my life for political reasons. It doesn't help the cause of democracy in the slightest and it severs connections that temper future escalation.
@Notaflyingt0y@the_transit_guy On balance yes and it's almost exactly what you described.
Just think "Victoria 3, but you also need to get the people and goods where they need to go"
Me *Says something in law school class*
Prof: "This is an argument made by John Yoo"
Me: *realizes that my professor may think I like Bush Torture Man*
Me (again): *cries profusely*
Now, in a pre-modern society this isn't significant in an "after the kids are gone I still have 70% of my prime left to make money and party or whatever" but the reduced burden of dependants is probably more significant.
An under-discussed facet of Tolkien's elves and men with unnaturally long lifespans is how little of their lives need to go into children.
Elves typically have 2 or three children, they grow up and then the elf goes back to their pre-child lifestyle for centuries.
