The 2 most hated figures at United over the past 8 years? Ronaldo and Mourinho. The most liked? Rashford, Shaw , Martial and Ole. Human beings in large groups are not very smart.
It’s all the players talk about. It’s all the media talk about. Thousands of fans obsess over it.
Top 4. Top 4. Top 4.
And this is what we do when we’re here?
And we’d rather go out of Europe completely so we can… concentrate on finishing in the top four? Fuck me.
@michaelttfw Less games we watch, the lesser the pain 😭 — any combo you look at, this squad and manager will fail + make excuses for that failure. I’d rather we be out of Europe and just focus domestically. I’d always advocate trophies over everything, but it’s redundant at this juncture.
McTominay on manager cycle: "It's players' responsibility first + foremost. We're at a stage where we have big characters in dressing room, it's not a case, like some of other managers, where it’s been a little bit toxic at times. The boys are firmly behind the manager." #MUFC
🚨 Scott Mctominay:
“Boys are firmly behind the manager.”
“It is not like the other managers when it has been toxic at times. Players can get lost in translation, we just want to do well for the football club. It is as simple as that."
People being so hyperbolic about Dalot. Most players in our squad would do the same and shoot, it’s a 50/50. If he’d scored we’d be praising him.
Plus there is no conclusive evidence that Hojlund would have even scored if the ball found him.
We didn’t lose because of Dalot 😂
Fans keep suggesting that sacking ETH is pointless because a new manager will need years to make a change.
No.
New manager comes in: drops Maguire, Shaw, Bruno, Martial, Rashford, Scott, AWB & Lindelof indefinitely… and you immediately get change and a rebuild can commence.
@michaelttfw@JayMotty Granted, he’s young and the team environment is pathetic but even some United’s lesser strikers were able to make something, create assists for others, work of scraps and score. He’s literally a passenger in most games. He’s strong + good burst of pace, but if you don’t score? 🤷🏽♂️
@michaelttfw@JayMotty What have people seen to suggest “there’s a player there?” — minimal hold/link up play, barely works the channels, doesn’t win headers, not a ball carrier, barely creates for himself, doesn’t take pens/FKs, questionable positioning when a cross does come in. What am I not seeing?
How many times have we heard this or similar? This is what the 100th time in the last 3/4 years?
These players are frauds, go listen to what Scott said after the Chelsea game. Literally 72 hours ago.
🔴 Bruno Fernandes: “We apologize for this unacceptable performance”.
“Fans have been behind us all the time so it is normal they boo and didn’t like what they see. We can only say sorry”.
Literally says the same thing every other week and in between those weeks he’s talking about setting standards and how he’s building a resilient culture.
We’re dusted on the pitch, yes the players are dross but the manager is just as culpable.
🚨 Ten Hag: “I’ve to take responsibility for it. We are really inconsistent”.
“I understand fans are disappointed, frustrated. We all are but we should do better and we have show it every game, not to have so big levels from one game to another”.
😂 — those who keep making excuses for Erik crack me up. What spell has he cast on these lot who follow him blindly and just can’t accept that he ain’t HIM, he’s not the guy. Literally for no sustained period has he given any indication he can lead us to a league title.
Erik ten Hag certainly isn't blameless but the vast majority of the #MUNBOU side are not his players. Maguire, Shaw, Dalot, Bruno, McTominay & Martial. Reguilon & Amrabat are #MUFC loanees. Garnacho a youth product. Onana & Antony are ETH players. Hojlund is the manager's signing.
My opinion is you have no choice but to work with what you have, but these are a dysfunctional bunch on their best day. On a bad day, they'll lose without much of a fist-fight. They're winded, easily.
I believe Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dave Brailsford & INEOS will bring institutional change. I think Ten Hag deserves a chance to partner with them. Sell players who should have gone long ago and recruit fresh talent.
I think it's fair to question ETH's method but let's not pretend the players can't play 4141. They certainly can. Yes, we'd be better with different players, and that day will come.
Losing to Bournemouth wasn't really a tactical problem. The issue is you have starters who are incompetent in their roles. Inconsistency will always dog these players because they lack care and attention. Some live off reputation and glossy metrics that don't win you games every week.
SJR needs to buy x2 CB, x2 No. 8s, a 6/8 and a striker to rotate with Hojlund. That's 6 players over the next 2 windows and that's not impossible. We can assess ETH again at the end of the season & INEOS can then decide if a fresh face is needed to coach United.
Patience. We're going nowhere, fast, so no need to pull the trigger.... Yet.
I back the manager. His primadonna players are the issue.
