@JTAlexander You are showing a remarkable historical illiteracy to imply scientists did not flee Nazi Germany and contributed to the scientific efforts of other nations.
@ApsuBlack@DantheSandman16@pureMetatron Sure.
He denounced all forms of violence when he said "I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that does a lot of damage" and said that a "amazing patriot" should bail out the attacker of Nancy Pelosi's (a political opponent) husband. In out of context - that is fucked up.
@ApsuBlack@DantheSandman16@pureMetatron That's an easy defense to whatever anyone could say about the man without any research being done.
What was the context? Are you saying he didn't want a right-wing revolution? Do you know what instance I am talking about, where it was said, and when, and what he meant to say?
@DantheSandman16@ApsuBlack@pureMetatron "Right-wing revolution" being something he was for is bad enough. Either of those words - taken literally - are not desirable. Especially not in combination. It is undemocratic.
@FalkTG Do the living owe their lives to the dead, and the descendants are forever living on the sacrifice of those that came before? No.
It is what governments and leaders do today that earn loyalty and respect, not a finger pointed at someone else's deeds 3 generations ago.
@johnkonrad Don't act like it was all an altruistic act or a con the rest of the world played on the US. The US had interests all over the world, and NATO was one tool to ensure they could maintain it. The US as a superpower would not be where it is today without it.
@jtalexander It was also normal to bash the skull if your neighbor to take his deer skin pelt if you were cold, but in modern society you got other options. Modern law and expectations of conduct in war makes the "you have a n obligation to refuse illegal orders" is even in US army manuals.
