Spliced videos — how long can Pia Cayetano get? The whole narrative with more than 1 million views is an unfair representation of what actually happened during the hearing.

The Senate President and the Presiding Officer should call this one out!

It is bad enough that Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano seem to be favoring the accused on their line of questioning and manifesting. But the line should be drawn on the social media fake news peddling!

‘SPLICED GIRL’ PIA CAYETANO, DAPAT IPA-DISBAR DAHIL SA ALTERED VIDEO – CONTRERAS

Hinamon ni political commentator Prof. Antonio Contreras si Sen. Pia Cayetano na magbitiw na sa puwesto bunsod ng kanyang pagmamanilupa diumano ng isang video na nagpapakita ng kanilang mainitang argumento sa impeachment trial ni Senator-judge at Akbayan Rep. Chel Diokno ng House prosecution panel upang ipamukha sa publiko na hindi nasagot ng huli ang kanyang mahahalagang katanungan.

Sa kanyang post ngayong Linggo, Hulyo 26, sinabi ni Contreras na malinaw na “disinformation” ang ginawa ni Sen. Pia sa umano’y pag-splice ng video upang gamitin sa social media platform ng mambabatas “para pagtawanan at siraan ang prosecutor.”

“A Senator-judge who spreads disinformation has no moral authority to judge the fitness of anyone else for public office,” giit ni Contreras.

Dahil sa naturang kontrobersiya, binansagan na rin ng ilang mga netizen si Sen. Pia bilang “Spliced Girl” na hango mula sa pangalan ng sikat na British pop girl group na “Spice Girls.”

Ayon pa kay Contreras, malina na nakasaad sa Section 38 ng Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability na bawal sa isang abogado ang “knowingly or maliciously disseminating false or unverified statements” na maituturing na maling impormasyon.

“Hindi kayang i-disbar ng Senado si Pia; Supreme Court lamang ang may kapangyarihan gawin iyon” paliwanag ni Contreras.

“Pero dapat siyang i-censure ng Senado at i-refer sa Ethics Committee,” giit ng propersor.
