In case you missed it, my husband and PR/marketer/content whiz/agency general manager Andrés López-Varela @hackjack and I just launched a podcast!
It's a podcast about how to grow your personal brand as an executive or business owner. Check it out!

If you could start a business that pays you to live the life you’ve always wanted, what would that look like to you?
For me, a business that pays me to live the life I’ve always wanted looks like:
- Working with only people I respect & like
- Taking Fridays off
- Having time in my schedule to travel w/ my wife for 1-2 months at a time
- Spending more time on my health throughout the day (gym, walks)
I hear from a lot of people who feel stuck — stuck in a dead-end job, stuck not knowing how to even start a side business.
They feel like:
- they don’t have a good business idea
- they aren’t an EXPERT in anything
- they’re just too overwhelmed with knowing where to start
Those ideas hold you back from even taking the first step to building a business
Instead, focus on:
- realizing that there are opportunities everywhere
- believing that everyone has a skill that people will pay for
- taking the process step-by-step
You don't have to be "famous" to be a thought leader in your space. It's not just about having a platform, but about being well known and perceived as a thought leader within your industry.
Every time I create I experience the same resistance. The difference is that now I can move through it a lot faster. Here's what I remind myself...
🔥 I'm a contributor, not a guru
🔥 By putting my work out into the world, I'm lighting a path for others
🔥 I love creating!
I'm super excited to be speaking at @state_of_social in Perth to share why every marketer must have a personal brand.

One reason people avoid building a personal brand is because they're afraid of being judged. But when you achieve the goal - replace your 6-fig income in your business, or build the career - you don't care as much anymore because you realise it's the price of entry. Agree?

Blaming and shaming doesn't stop people from making mistakes. It stops them from admitting mistakes.
If people can't share their blunders, they can't learn from them—and neither can the rest of us.
The best way to prevent errors is to make it safe for people to discuss them.

No woman deserves to be shamed for public breastfeeding, ever. Yet an Australian judge chose to address a woman in court and kick her out for it, in 2023.
Barring breastfeeding is a violation of human rights. It isolates and shames mothers, and limits their movements and participation in public life. Babies don’t get fed on a schedule, they get fed when they’re hungry. When a baby is hungry a parent must feed their child. Simple.
Here is a photograph with my daughter, a few years ago - a beautiful time. There is no shame in breastfeeding your child, ever, and there should be no stigma around this.
