When my dad died, my friends would talk about their dads and my heart would hurt . They would look at my face and even though I tried to smile, I couldn’t. they would start apologizing and I would tell them it was fine .heck, I even convinced myself it was fine .
Months later , I realized it wasn’t….. I wasn’t fine . I was jealous of the fact that I didn’t have a dad anymore and they all did. Jealous and sad.
Yesterday was bittersweet. I started a new job last month and met amazing people who became friends. Being assigned to different departments means we won’t see each other every day anymore🥺 I’ll miss that, but I’m grateful for the journey shared and happy we all made it this far
I’ve only dated one person my entire life.
There’s a way someone will love you , you’ll be ruined for any other person. You’ll compare and contrast , because you know what it’s like when someone genuinely loves you . It’s so bad that settling actually feels like dying .
So yes, my heart is open to love but definitely not to settle.
Holding dollars feels safe… until you realize safety without productivity is still loss.
And in unstable systems, that loss compounds quietly.
True innovation in the financial world doesn’t start with a new piece of technology; it starts with human pain.
In high inflation economies, money doesn’t just lose its purchasing power, it loses time, access, and dignity as restrictions and delays become policy.
While holding dollars may feel like a safe haven, safety without productivity is still a form of loss in an unstable system,.
Hot take, and this one is for my close friends.
I know some of you haven’t forgotten that I lost my dad. But I also feel like, after a while, people forget to remember. The check-ins reduce. The awareness fades. Life moves on for everyone else, which is fair tbh. It’s not a personal thing so that’s normal.
But whe I decline invites and people ask, “Why aren’t you coming? What happened?” I’m always a bit stunned. Like… take a wild guess? Everything is still fresh. I lost a parent. Someone actually died in my life this year.
It may not feel that deep to you, but it is to me.
Sometimes I’m just not in the mood. Sometimes I don’t have the capacity. And yes, in an ideal world, you’d still be checking in, because grief doesn’t expire (mine isn’t even up to 8 months). 💀
And when people say things like, “You carry grief well,” I honestly don’t know what that means. How exactly am I supposed to carry it? Loudly? Quietly? Performatively?
Just because I’m not always talking about it or posting about it doesn’t mean it’s not heavy. This wasn’t a random loss. This was my dad. A parent. My person.
So, yeah. 🫠
Another crazy part of unemployment is people suggesting jobs you’re not interested in and getting mad when you refuse to do them.
“You can go and teach in a kindergarten for now…”
And God forbid you want more than being a teacher. You’ll be termed ungrateful and lazy.
Been cooking up something fresh! 👨🏾🎨🔥
Designed this branding for Culinary Art, and I’m excited to keep growing and improving in my craft.
If you’re into clean visuals and bold concepts, let’s work.
Please don’t look at the figure and think aunty Esther is “enjoying.” Chemotherapy is brutal, mouth sores, constant metallic taste, nausea, weakness, everything hurts to swallow. Even water feels like acid some days. Soup is not luxury; it’s the only thing that goes down without too much pain.
Cancer treatment is expensive, and the patient still has to find a way to eat, to stay alive for the next session. The N30m+ balance you see is what it costs to keep her here with us.
So when you see these figures, don’t joke “Aunty dey enjoy.” Just say a prayer, share if you can, and understand that nobody chooses this kind of “enjoyment.”
Thank you to everyone who has helped so far. God bless you real good 🙏🏾🕊️
