@SNurseAbbie 30 and retrained to be an OT. Looking back I would never have been ready before i got to that age. Values and priorities werenโt there yet. Never too late to embrace your passions and try new things ๐
@Karen_MakHW Hey, iโm just wondering if this list of benefits was backed by any specific research or refs you wouldnโt mind sharing? โบ๏ธIโm always passionate to summarise info like this on my ward the way you have here, but prefer to know whats backing it up so iโm ready for any skeptics ๐
@ot_abbie This hit me right where i needed it at exactly the right time. Similarly, 1 week in to a new job. Letโs just say the challenges are bringing so much discomfort ๐ But iโm holding on to the growth that will come from it. Although we will need to remind ourselves throughout ๐๐
Operation โmove to New Zealandโ complete.
Start my Occupational Therapist role on mental health ward next week.

@suzyjwilkinson Now, since youโre questioning it anyway๐คญ i stopped after a year as a challenge to myself to just believe in my abilities and knowledge as an AHP
@fisheraddiction Loved reading this. Iโve specialised in mental health most my career and now OT. Due to start a role on a MH and addictions ward next month. Would love to keep in touch and engage with more OT peers within addiction services, should there be any peer groups, or we can build on ๐คญ
1/2 Itโs almost a bittersweet feeling promoting your own job. But what an amazing experience Iโve had. If i wasnโt moving away, iโd have stayed in this service a long time.

Well no words can describe how I am feeling today! Our research article has been accepted๐ ๐ Thank you to my co-author @ThewMiranda for making this possible! Such valuable research to support OTs working with young care leavers & disadvantaged population groups ๐
@theRCOT
This morning: Received confirmation that Iโm now a registered Occupational Therapist in New Zealand with the OTBNZ.
This afternoon: Informed my team Iโll be leaving and moving away.
The reality is kicking in now.
The next couple of months is going to be intense.
