@AfricanArchives 1965.
After the CIA backed killing of Lumumba, DRC became a Cold War battleground. Che Guevara tried to ignite continental revolution there. He found division, weak discipline, and heavy Western interference. The mission collapsed. Exported revolution met African reality.
Che Guevara with a Congolese communist guerrilla, 1965.
In 1965, Ernesto โCheโ Guevara traveled to Central Africa to take part in a revolutionary campaign in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The mission came just a few years after the assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba and during a period of intense political instability across the country.
Guevara believed the Congo could become a starting point for wider anti-colonial movements across Africa. He joined forces with Congolese fighters who were resisting the central government and foreign influence, hoping to help organize and train rebel forces along Marxist revolutionary lines.
However, the campaign faced serious challenges from the beginning. Guevara later wrote that language barriers, internal divisions among rebel groups, lack of military discipline, and limited local support made coordination extremely difficult. Foreign backing for the Congolese government, including Western intelligence involvement, further weakened the chances of success.
After several months, the mission collapsed and Guevara quietly left the region. He later described the Congo operation as one of the most difficult and disappointing experiences of his revolutionary career. Within two years, he would attempt a similar effort in Bolivia, where he was captured and executed in 1967.
Her name is Esther Wairimu Keige.
She is a senior legal officer at Kenya Forest Service HQ, Kiambu Road where she has served for over 10 years.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, when she arrived home from work, she told her family that she was feeling uneasy after being asked to sign certain documents in the office.
The following day, Wednesday 10th June 2026, Esther reported to work at around 10a.m where worked until around 2 p.m. before leaving for her home in Juja.
But upon reaching Juja town, Esther mysteriously disappeared shortly after alighting from the vehicle she travelled in.
Yesterday, Esther's decomposing body was found in a forest in Gatundu.
Esther is a victim of abductions, torture and murder.
Who wanted Esther dead and why? Is it because of her toughness and refusal to bow to land grabbers who have been planning to grab Karura Forest?

After weeks of frantic searching since 9th June, our colleague Esther Wairimu Keige, Advocate, was discovered dead in Gatundu Forest.
My heart goes out to her family, friends and the wider legal fraternity as we grapple with this unspeakable tragedy. May they draw strength even as they walk through this valley of grief. We remain steadfast in demanding that those behind this heinous act be traced, subjected to due process and held fully accountable under the law.
Rest in power, Counsel. ๐๐
Every legal practitioner, every Forester, every active citizen, every Kenyan,

It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby โ a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist โ to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and weโre thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
@Im_Kidd_Eazi1 This!!!
Holding an office in government should be treated as actual work and not a money minting scheme. Those are literally our employees. Also,put qualified,competent people in those seats. Thereโs no reason why we should be re electing individuals who have performed dismally.
Africans will confidently tell you that colonization destroyed this continent. What they cannot tell you is what existed before it.
The University of Sankore in Timbuktu housed 25,000 students in the 14th century. The Garamantes of Libya built 750 kilometers of underground irrigation tunnels between 500 BCE and 700 CE, turning desert into farmland without a single modern tool. The Great Mosque of Djennรฉ has stood for centuries, built entirely from mud brick, still standing today.
This is not ancient mythology. It is documented history. The ruins are still there.
But ask the average African about these and they will look at you blankly. Ask them who is responsible for Africaโs underdevelopment and they will give you a 30 minute answer.
We are fluent in our grievances and illiterate about our greatness. That combination guarantees we repeat the cycle. You cannot build on a foundation you do not know exists.
That is the education conversation Africans are refusing to have.
When Europeans first encountered Great Zimbabwe in the 1870s, they refused to believe it was built by indigenous Africans and attributed it to Phoenicians, Arabs, or even the biblical Queen of Sheba. The colonial government of Rhodesia actively suppressed archaeological evidence that contradicted this, and archaeologists who concluded that Africans built it faced professional consequences.
The dry-stone construction without mortar is also confirmed, over 900 years old still standing, built entirely from locally quarried granite shaped and stacked without binding material.
