A Christian can be deeply depressed and still be deeply loved by God. We need to be careful about turning every case of depression into a sin issue, because we live in fallen bodies as well as fallen souls.

Elijah wanted to die under a tree, and God didn’t give him a lecture about being more grateful. He gave him food, let him sleep, stayed with him, and dealt gently with a man who had nothing left.

If you are depressed, please don’t disappear from your friends or the Church because you feel like you have nothing to give. Come to us tired and quiet, we care for you and we don’t expect you to give more than you can. Come and just sit if that is all you can manage.

In the Abrahamic Covenant, there was a sign given to newly born into the 'covenant community' -- circumcision. Cool, got it.

In the New Covenant, there is a sign given to newly born into the 'covenant community' -- baptism. OK. Fine. But newly born = reborn as in "born again".

Couldn't this be that case?
