I went down the rabbit hole of Sony’s Ace, which they’re calling the ChatGPT moment in robotics. At first, I thought it was just typical AI hype, but it’s real, there’s huge potential IMO.
I read the paper Sony AI submitted to Nature, and it was surprisingly simple to understand. It’s mostly about deep reinforcement learning so that helped, and the breakthroughs are truly amazing. I’m so hyped. I even tried to patch together the video with all my broken notes (basically the parts I actually understood, lol). You should definitely check out the paper though, just google “Sony Ace Nature” the PDF is free to download.
Okay, this is officially too much
Sony AI published research in Nature regarding its project Ace, an autonomous system that has officially defeated elite human players in competitive table tennis. It uses high-speed perception and reinforcement learning to act faster than human reaction time, marking a milestone for robots in unpredictable, high-speed physical environments.
Here's a ready-to-post tweet draft (137 chars):

Google I/O is coming and the hype feels different now 😂
Used to be everyone counting down for the next Pixel flagship.
Now? It’s all “what crazy new Gemini drop we getting?”

@TheTennisLetter The gap between the top 2 players (Sincaraz) and the rest of the tour is getting out of hand. You know the worst thing is that this is going to be a potential RG final.

@shilpash0k Haha, I definitely get that urge to end the conversation that way too. Since it means spending tokens worth the entire chat history though, I usually just end things with an upvote instead.
Get well soon, man. I actually stopped watching TV shows and movies because nothing matches the entertainment and adrenaline rush I get from watching you play. All of us fans are going to miss you, but I really liked your cautious approach. You have to think long term. You might even be able to win Roland Garros at 70% recovery, but that could cause some serious long term damage.
Just get well soon. The whole tennis world is in shock and praying for your recovery.
So Alibaba totally faked us out. Qwen 3.6 is out, it runs blazing fast on local setups, and it literally overthinks dad jokes until it crashes your VRAM. 😂
Put together a quick video breaking down the new architecture if you're curious
Just uploaded a new video on Kimi K2.6. The 1.1 trillion parameter MoE model.
This open-weight powerhouse is a massive win for developers who want consistency over "lobotomized" updates.
@fchollet "Tiny memory and Shallow calculation depth" are subjective mesures. Imagine an alien race with 100x Power, they still
might have bigger problems to solve that we cant comprehend & for that they also need abstraction
