خلال مداخلة في نشرة الأخبار المسائية على قناة MTV، أكدتُ أن قانون العفو العام يجب أن يطال كل الموقوفين منذ تاريخ إقرار القانون، ولا يمكن أن يُقَر على قياس أشخاص أو مجموعات مدعومة سياسيًا من جهة معينة.

العفو العام هدفه الأساسي التعاطي مع الإجحاف القضائي الذي طال الموقوفين الإسلاميين، الذين صدرت الأحكام بحقهم من المحكمة العسكرية، التي كان يسيطر عليها حزب الله، ومن قبله نظام الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد، وكان يتم استعمال المحكمة لتصفية حسابات سياسية.

قانون العفو العام يجب أن يطال الجميع، وأن يكون عادلًا وشاملًا، ولا يكون استنسابيًا أو انتقائيًا.

ما حصل أمس في جلسة مجلس النواب مثير للحزن، ولكن لا يمكن السماح لفريق "8 آذار" وحلفائه بالسيطرة على المجلس وفرض ما يريدون وافتعال الخلاف واتهام الطرف الآخر بافتعاله.

دولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء الدكتور نواف سلام اجتمع مع عدد من النواب الذين وقعوا على مشروع القانون يوم الإثنين الماضي، وذلك بعد عودته من قطر، وقد تمت الموافقة على بعض التعديلات، التي لو تم إقرارها في جلسة الأمس، لما قاطع الجلسة أي نائب.

قاطعتُ الجلسة يوم الخميس عندما رأيت أن الامور لا تسير بإطارها العادل، وقد بدا جليًا أن هناك محاولة من البعض لوضع الجيش في مواجهة السُنّة تحت إطار تمرير بعض الأمور لمصلحة موقوفين معينين دون الموقوفين الإسلاميين.

أتمنى على الجميع النظر إلى هذه المسألة من باب العدالة والمساواة، وليس من باب الطوائف والمذاهب، وأرى أن الطريقة الوحيدة لحل هذه الأزمة هو ما حصل عامَي ١٩٩٢ و١٩٩٥، بحيث نكون أمام عفو عام يطال الجميع، ومن ثم يتم العمل على دعم استقلالية القضاء وتطبيق العدالة، وتفكيك المحكمة العسكرية وإعادة هيكلتها لتتعاطى فقط بالشأن العسكري ولا تتدخل بالشأن المدني.

Unbelievable and unacceptable!

Vice President Vance is trying to shift the blame for his failed negotiations onto others, making one false claim after another simply to avoid admitting that the talks with the Islamic Republic failed because of his own naïveté and his lack of understanding of how the ayatollahs’ regime operates.

Because of his misplaced optimism toward the ayatollahs, Vice President Vance gave this terrorist regime a major opportunity to humiliate the United States on the world stage.

The Vice President of the United States also appears to have little understanding of the Iranian people. He seems to view Iranians—who are victims of the regime and are fighting for freedom and democracy—as a threat, while treating the ayatollahs’ regime as a trustworthy negotiating partner.

I hope Mr. Vance comes to understand the realities of the region as soon as possible. As long as the ayatollahs’ regime remains in power, there can be neither stability nor lasting peace in the Middle East.
