Located in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, the Vishwanath Temple displays one of the finest temple architecture of Khajuraho. The temple has an entrance porch, mandapa, maha-mandapa with transepts, vestibule, and sanctum surrounded by an ambulatory.

The temple was built by the Chandella king Dhanga in 999 CE. A long foundation inscription records that two Shiva-lingas, one of which was of emerald, were enshrined here.

Stylistically, the Viswanath Temple is intermediary between the Lakshmana Temple and the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple. It was built in the panchayatana style and anticipates the architectural form of the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple. Its facades feature three sculptural bands of equal size, while the basement niches depict the Satamatrikas, with Ganesha at one end and Virabhadra at the other. Its shikhara is also similar in design to that of the Kandariya Mahadeva, though simpler and with fewer anga shikharas.

The temple has well-proportioned sculptures with admirable poise and balance. These include figures of sura-sundaris and couples, reflecting the refined sculptural tradition of Khajuraho.

According to local tradition, the Shiva Temple at Billawar in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir was built by King Babhruvahana, the son of Arjuna. The ancient settlement, once known as Belapur or Villapur, gradually came to be called Billawar.

Dating to the 10th-11th century CE, this west-facing temple depicts Nagara-style architecture and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It stands on a raised platform and is celebrated for its harmonious architectural planning, intricate sculptural carvings, and elegant decorative features.

The temple comprises a garbhagriha, antarala, and mandapa. Its exterior is adorned with niches housing subsidiary deities, Dikpalas (guardian deities), and decorative rosettes, while the graceful curvilinear shikhara rises in ten tiers embellished with chaitya motifs. The sanctum features a lantern-type ceiling and enshrines a Shivlinga.

Though much of the original mandapa has not survived, archaeological excavations revealed the remains of its pillars, along with a buried western porch and staircase. Finely carved black stone sculptures further highlight the temple's artistic excellence, making it a remarkable example of early medieval temple architecture in the region.
