New Paper for #foramfriday: CT scans let us measure individual chambers and watch forams grow as environments change. The 5 species studied here are larger when oxygen is low because they only care about food. https://t.co/jqzyFj1KI4
A @TAMU_Ocean-led team has created the first global map of seafloor biodiversity activity by using machine learning to map a picture of animals' activities & the conditions that drive their efforts to shape ecosystem health in our oceans. https://t.co/7tbisWNgDf

Our project on fossil extinction & climate change is shortlisted for a PhD studentship (UK tuition + stipend), pending an excellent candidate for the final interview. Happy to answer Qs and will post a link soon. Team: @spissatella@KirstyMEdgar & me.
Two of the first paleoecology books I bought before grad school were by Jim Valentine. Also had the privilege of working with him during my post doc on the factors controlling marine biogeography. He was a huge influence on how I view the oceans and their biota. 🐚🌊
🚩Please pass to interested undergraduates. @TAMU_GeoGeo is offering a one-week summer school for undergraduates to conduct research in the department. I’ll be accepting students interested in marine micropaleontology and we’ll be working with foram faunas. Link ⬇️
In addition to Marine Micropaleontology, the summer school also features:
Trace element geochemistry
Mineral Physics
Experimental Rock Deformation
