"हम मरने के लिए बने हैं.. कभी गड्ढे में गिर कर मरते हैं, कभी पेपर लीक के बाद आत्महत्या करते हैं, कभी लाइब्रेरी में जलकर मरते हैं.. तुम सब सिर्फ हिंदू मुसलमान करने और भाषण देने के लिए हो?"
दिल दुख गया ये सुनकर,पर सवाल है क्या ये सब याद रहेगा जब वोट डालेंगे
A MASSIVE protest is underway in the capital of this country and yet much of the old mainstream media has chosen to black it out. People have been camping at Jantar Mantar since 20th June, continuously raising issues that affect lakhs of students and young people across the country. And still there is near-total silence from them.
But endless primetime debates on manufactured controversies continue. Complete INDIFFERENCE when ordinary citizens assemble peacefully to demand accountability from those in power. And that tells you everything you need to know about the state of our "free press" and democratic discourse in the country!

THIS IS HOW YOU EXPOSE SELECTIVE MORALITY 🔥
REPORTER: Police say you are not even listening to the Supreme Court. How long will this protest continue?
ABHIJEET 🎯: Protest after 5 PM is wrong? But staying on the chair after 12 student suicides is right?
REPORTER: NEET exam is also tomorrow. What would you tell the students?
ABHIJEET 🔥: Go give your exam. Don’t take tension. Your brothers and sisters are here fighting for your rights.
A good time to revisit what is arguably the most scholarly work available on the nefarious origins and shadowy world of the RSS: The late AG Noorani saheb’s, “The RSS: A Menace to India.”
A must-read for anyone interested in the reality of this unaccountable cult.

Umar Khalid’s brilliant PhD thesis has just been published as a book. It is a rigorously researched and richly readable history of Adivasis in Chotanagpur. May his cruel incarceration end soon, and Dr Khalid write more fine works of historical scholarship.

THIS IS WHAT FEARLESSNESS SOUNDS LIKE 🔥
Sonam Wangchuk says India needs a second freedom movement.
Freedom from fear.
Those asking for transparency and accountability are being followed, threatened and silenced.
But fear cannot be the future of this country.
If there is no accountability by next Saturday, he will sit on hunger strike with the students.
That is what standing with the youth looks like.
In a disastrous ruling, the Court of Appeal in London has overruled the High Court and upheld the government's decision to ban Palestine Action as a terrorist group.
Defining a protest group as terrorists has created an absurd situation where thousands of people have been arrested for holding up signs.

For Sundar Pichai, Stanford was supposed to be a homecoming.
Instead, it became a walkout.
As the Google CEO took the stage to address graduates, hundreds of students got up and left, protesting Google's alleged ties to Israel and reigniting the debate over Big Tech's role in the war.

Nearly eight years after the chargesheet and the trial is now before its seventh judge. Is this not a travesty of justice?

The brutal assault and subsequent arrest of CPI(M) Central Committee member Sujan Chakroborty, SFI General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharya and other comrades by the police and the illegal eviction of hawkers outside the premises of Jadavpur station in Kolkata last night deserves the highest condemnation.
Prime Minister Modi had no inhibitions while stopping for a photo-op to to eat jhalmuri during the election campaign in West Bengal. Post elections, the state government run by his party is on a demolition spree, evicting hundreds of hawkers who sell jhalmuri and other snacks, meals, beverages and everyday goods to thousands of customers daily.
The West Bengal government should immediately withdraw from this diabolical attack against the livelihood of working class families and communities. The Left parties and trade unions will fight unitedly against the bulldozer attacks under the cover of the dark. Not An Inch Back!
VIDEO | AAP MP Sanjay Singh (@SanjayAzadSln) donates Rs 50,000 from his salary to Riyazuddin Mansuri, a mattress shop owner, who laid down his mattresses for people escaping the Malviya Nagar Hotel fire.
He says, "An unfortunate incident had happened here, where with fire in a hotel, 22 people died, but at that time, when people were clamouring for help, few local people exhibited courage to save them, I have come here to salute them. Not only this, as soon as we got the information, Somnath Bharti had arrived here, Riyazuddin Bhai, without caring for his business, laid out mattresses for people to safely jump on them, local people exhibited humanity, this is the real religion... I want to say that their spirit should remain intact, we should stand by them, I am giving Rs 50,000 from my salary to Riyazuddin Bhai because his mattresses got spoiled. I will also felicitate the other people at my residence who volunteered..."

My piece in today’s @the_hindu where I argue that the new “Demography Committee” is not really about addressing India’s demographic challenges, but about paving the way for a new institutional targetting of India’s minorities.
