Dear Bella, learning about your foundation is the most wonderful news I' ve heard in a very long time! I've been thinking about this idea for half of my (solo and traveling) life or so. I started a similar project myself but it got stuck because of bureaucracy, pandemic, lack of traction, personal constraints etc. I was so sad and discouraged I almost gave up any hope. I'm so happy someone is finally doing it, and you are definetely the best person to lead it. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful!
Brilliant and creative people doing good in the world for single people! 1st set of awards from the Foundation for the Empowerment of Single People.

As a single person who lives alone, I want a reverse bulk store. Instead of everything being sold in bulk, give me single servings at reasonable prices. Half a loaf of bread. Cake mix for 6 cupcakes. Spinach I can finish before it liquefies in the crisper drawer.
I’m one of at least 28 former Washington Post journalists who have joined the @washingtonsun, which launched this morning. Paul Kane, Jeff Stein, Tom Sietsema and many other names will be familiar to Post readers —and we’ve got the Capital Weather Gang. Join us! https://t.co/qK806amX3p
@belladepaulo@allieevolpe It is. I chose not to have kids for a variety of reasons (only child parentified by mother with mental illness/alcoholism) and life without kids/grandkids shuts you out of conversation, social invitations or curiosity about your life. Not easy.
@belladepaulo Question: has anyone done or considered doing a Rosenhan-like study with single patients vs married patients? One with females and one with males? Also, of course, with physicians of each gender. And, yes, I do mean using pseudopatients.

Just a reminder that the deadline for submitting proposals to the Foundation for the Empowerment of Single People is September 1. (The next one after that is March 1.) Take a look at examples of the kinds of projects we fund here: https://t.co/1qh4IvVo84.
Instructions for applying plus the application form can be found here: https://t.co/W5IK288xgL. You’ll notice that question #6 on the application is, “How will your project empower single people?” Let that be your guiding light as you formulate your project.
Hidden beneath the green and years of quiet sorrow, this little bench waits for two souls to meet, fall in love, and give each other a lifetime of tenderness. No one knows that the bench, too, is longing to be loved.
In Calif, auto insurance companies can NOT use age, race, or sex to determine car insurance rates. Charging unmarried drivers more? Legally, that’s just fine.
