On the question of subsidy, my position has not changed and will not change: I will restore it! A nation as blessed as ours has no business abandoning its citizens to hardship. Nigeria is rich enough to look after her own.
I believe the wealth of a nation is not measured by how much government collects, but by how much the money in the pockets of its people can buy.
I want wages to have value again. I want farmers to move produce without transport swallowing their profits. I want families to fill their baskets without emptying their pockets. I want businesses to produce, employ and prosper.
That is why I will restore targeted subsidy and put purchasing power back in the hands of Nigerians.
When fuel rises, transport rises. When transport rises, food rises. When food rises, families suffer.
I will break that wretched chain that has defined our national life in the nearly four years of Tinubu’s presidency.
I will support Nigerian production, reduce energy costs and restore purchasing power. I will not restore the import racket; I will restore relief.
I restated this commitment when I received the Osun State leadership of the ADC in Abuja on Tuesday.
I will make the naira in your pocket worth more, make daily living affordable again, and secure our people.
Economic security. Physical security. A better life for every Nigerian.
That is the Nigeria I intend to build. -AA
@FMINONigeria Economic gain for u guys and him ur boss n his cow's governor's! The removal didn't benefit a poor Nigerian rather u d elites for that #BringBackSubsidy@atiku will definitely have our vote we d northerners.
The funniest argument I keep hearing is that Tinubu's greatest achievement is the fact that Governors now receive more money.
Lol.
Some of you are still naive about what President Tinubu did.
Tinubu simply removed wealth from the hands of the masses he is not sure of being able to control at his beck and call, and placed it in the hands of a few elites he could control anyway.
Research indicates that a low-income Nigerian who neither owns a car nor a generator still sacrifices an average of ₦30,000 to ₦50,000 every month in indirect costs linked to the removal of the fuel subsidy.
Even without buying fuel directly, this demographic absorbs the financial shock through a reported 73.8% increase in the general cost of living, driven mainly by skyrocketing transportation fares and food inflation.
While President Tinubu's government will tell you they saved roughly ₦15.8 trillion from subsidy removal, they won't tell you how much of that financial burden was transferred to the poorest citizens.
I don't even want to talk about rent, because the money most of you have sacrificed paying in rent since Tinubu came into power could have built a house during Buhari's time, and maybe two houses during Jonathan's time.
Pathetic!!!!
I am Ekene Aninze, Esq.
Sunday Dare;
Executive Commissioner, NCC (3yrs).
Minister of Youth & Sports (3 yrs 9 months)
Special Adviser on Public Communication to Tinubu (2023 till date).
Sunday Dare has been a federal government appointee under the APC for approximately 10 years.
What does he know about the pains of subsidy removal?
Does he pay for his own fuel?!
Sunday, pls sit down.
One of the biggest problems President Tinubu will face in 2027 is the total lack of trust that Nigerians have in his administration. In politics, once trust is lost, even good policies struggle to gain acceptance, because people no longer believe the intentions behind them.
Subsidy is gone but every home is now pursuing solar as alternative source of power? What exactly has gotten better with subsidy removal? Power? Security? Infrastructure? Education? Economy?
What?
Bola Tinubu is a reckless politician who must not be allowed near power again. I looked at the list of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and saw many anomalies. How can Zach Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) be drafted as the Deputy Director, Fundraising? This is scandalous. The Nigerian revenue has been stolen in trillions to buy the 2027 election at any price.
The whole list is screaming corruption and embezzlement on the magnitude that was never seen before. Atiku Abubakar must issue a position statement regarding the activities of the NRS. An investigation must be opened immediately after his inauguration on May 29, 2027. Bola Tinubu is running the most corruption administration in Nigerian history and he's the most dangerous politician to ever hold that office. Reject him or you become perpetual slaves to his corrupt empire!
