I wanted to start my time as Mid Derbyshire's MP listening to local young people, so it was a pleasure to visit Belper School & Sixth Form Centre today.

Students asked excellent questions, and their thoughts are already informing my work.

[Jonathan Davies @Jonathan4MD]

I also visited the school's creative industries faculty.

Many schools reduced their arts and creative provision in response to the former government's priorities, so it was excellent to see work Belper School has done to ensure these subjects continue to thrive there.

Great to take our new MP @Jonathan4MD on our tour around our fabulous faculty today. So lovely to discuss the Creative Industries and share our vision.

What a show! What a week! So much to love. I love the bit when the students take charge, off they go making the show their own. New friends, a second family, a huge sense of togetherness followed by a sense of loss. Soon to be replaced with news of the next show…#madbelper
