Footage from 1984 exists where the BBC interviewed the Santana Blocc in Compton. The Santana Blocc Compton Crips (SBCC) formly known as the Santana Boys, are primarily an African-American street gang, established on the east side of Compton, California.

This gang is the result of two separate gangs (Mid-Town and Oak Park Boys) emerging as one. Kim “Bullet” Tate, original founder of Santana Blocc who had plans to bring the two gangs together.

However, Kim Tate was killed by a Lueders Park Piru in 1978. Kenneth “Turtle” Johnson (former Oak Park Boys), carried out Bullet plans, and united the two gangs, forming the Santana Blocc Compton Crips. With Kenneth “Turtle” Johnson, in command of the Santana Blocc who waged war on several piru gangs in Compton. especially, the Lueders Park Pirus along with the Elm Street Pirus, Mob Pirus, and Cross Atlantic Pirus.

By the 1980s, the Santanas became a threat to any Blood/Piru/Crip gang who opposed them. In 1989, Kenneth Turtle Johnson, was ambushed and murdered in Lynwood, California.

There are a lot of controversy and myths surrounding Turtle untimely death. Fredrick “Baby Gangster” Staves, co-founder of the term “CC Riders” is affiliated with the Santana Blocc Compton Crips.

Territory stretches from Rosecrans Ave to Pine Street, between, Alameda Street and Long Beach Blvd. West of the Compton Fashion Center (Compton Swatmeet).

Parts of their hood also collide with the Elm Street Pirus neighborhood.
