A wise officer once told me to consider sweating the small stuff at times; not addressing the small stuff can lead to big & bad things! The key is balance; not overreacting or micromanaging & not being so naive that you miss the warning signs of a tragedy in the making!
We shouldn’t hire resumes. Instead we should hire people with solid character traits; those who are a good fit for our family & community & those we can get along with. We can teach many to throw ladders or pull hose, but we can teach few to be nice or play nicely in the sandbox.
