ON THIS DAY 2001: David Beckham scored this perfect free-kick in the last minute against Greece to gain a 2-2 draw

The point helped England reach the 2002 World Cup Finals

25 years.

Unforgettable.

@BohlmanC @LincolnCity_FC Dads white Mercedes in that first pic. Circa 81-83?

[Ben Colin Murphy @BenColinMurphy1]

@Rhys_Anderson5 Lincoln might surprise a few!

[Ben Colin Murphy @BenColinMurphy1]

@dancowley1 Thank you for taking this club to the championship. Without you, it would not have happened.

@Staceywestblog I hear you Gary, I’m still thinking that two years on.

[Ben Colin Murphy @BenColinMurphy1]

@Staceywestblog Steve Williams in tow there

@Staceywestblog Boston away in the conference sticks in my mind. Wycombe obviously up there after Barry Fry goes on Grandstand.

[Ben Colin Murphy @BenColinMurphy1]

@LincolnCity_FC We got a lot of joy from that free kick I remember. We used it the other day but he sliced it didn’t he.

When I was young he’d take me to watch you at Stafford Rangers and Plough Lane for Palace @StanCollymore before the Southend move.

[Stan Collymore @StanCollymore]

Incredible football brain and a man who'd have been more suited to the coaching of today than management of yesteryear.

Unlucky in following Clough then Mackay at Derby when his skill, like a Greenwood or Cantwell at West Ham were for the grass.

It'll be a fascinating read 👌🏽

[Stan Collymore @StanCollymore]

He's part of the "Croydon 3" coaching fraternity that included Bobby Houghton ( Malmo manager when Forest near them in the European Cup Final) and Roy Hodgson.

All 3 struggled to get jobs in England so went abroad.

55 managerial jobs between them!

@MorganWG03 Great to see you at my hometown club Morgan, hope it turns out well for you. Admirable tenacity to stick at it and make it happen, well done! Up the Imps

@wildeastfootbal Two defenders did their best to get out of the way didn’t they!

[Ben Colin Murphy @BenColinMurphy1]

@wildeastfootbal I saw that - I lived there for a year. Do you think it was fixed with Zheijang winning 2-1?

[Ben Colin Murphy @BenColinMurphy1]

@Dlnorton150879 @Long19Alan @Staceywestblog @ChrisMoyses Dad was the manager of Lincoln at the time.
