Ball flight is not quite reliable at the moment and there are many examples of the ball doing slightly strange things.

@maddieaf6 It's not laziness. They just prioritised other issues like fixing leaks, replacing water mains, improving digital infrastructure, i.e. stuff to keep costs down. I think it was a mistake not to focus on sewage infrastructure but the problem existed long before privatisation.

@maddieaf6 I explained it in baby terms so you'd understand and you're still doing the whole "£X billion is a big number so the companies are greedy!!!" nonsense. Did you not learn about fractions and percentages at school? Also, £2 billion is the combined profit of *all* energy companies.

@maddieaf6 The water companies invest significantly more than they did pre-privatisation. The reason we're dumping untreated sewage into the sea and rivers is because our sewage system is old and upgrading it will cost tens of billions of £s. The problem wasn't "caused by privatisation".

@maddieaf6 Yes, bills have gone up significantly over the past few years. But by far the biggest driver is a huge increase in the price of wholesale oil and gas. A nationalised energy supplier cannot change this. We buy on the international market.

@A_Pasta_See You can't just say "work produces heat" and present that as an argument against AC. Do you think the same about refrigerators and heating? Have you done the calculations and determined that AC's negative impact on climate change outweighs the thousands of lives it saves?

@maddieaf6 The high cost of energy has nothing to do with privatisation. The profit margin for the energy suppliers is in the low single digits.
Americans pay far less than we do in the UK/Europe, not because their companies are less greedy but because they produce way more energy.

@AndyInLondon1 @Deccieqt @PolitlcsUK *All* the evidence in the Salisbury poisonings points to Russia. We literally know the identities of the GRU officers who carried it out. There are pictures of them online in their uniforms. But no, you must be right. Why would Russia want to kill a Russian double agent?!
